What's up with the Avalanche jerseys?

The blue pants with the white jersey look horrendous. They should wear red or white pants with their away jersey or add more blue in the jersey.

They look like they are playing in a beer league with the blue helmets and pants with the white jersey. Just a mismatch of colors.

I honestly think they should switch the blue and burgundy on the jerseys; the burgundy should be an accent color, not the primary.

maybe the Avs should have swapped their light blue for their darker alternate blue. Either that or go with burgundy pants and helmet.

Or just stick with black pants, etc :thumbu:

As a part of the uniform set the black gear never hurt the look of anything in fact I have always thought it looked cool and everything went together just fine. The dark blue stuff should just stay with its unique set and not be tied in with anything else.

Prefer the “classic” look on top. Some great teams wore those- and whatever MacKinnon et al achieve in the next few seasons would have been adding to the legacy.

The new unis are modern/fresh- but despite looking similar- don’t automatically remind me of Sakic/Forsberg/Roy/Bourque, etc., which to me is problematic. That said- I could just be an NYI fan with PTSD from when we were in uniform purgatory.

Because it has a reason, its part of the overall design. I learned on this site people have hard time grasping the fact you can have more than 2 colors in your design.

Well, from a design standpoint, everyone should have four colors (two primary, two accent) and not counting white and black, because then you have like a billion more options when designing new jerseys and uniforms and you don't automatically have to put an outline around the logo so colors don't bleed.

In the Avs' primary logo for the last 25 years, there are four colors: Maroon, the teal blue, white and black. The black is the least prevalent (a small amount of the puck covered in snow).

Yet, their helmets and pants and occasionally their jersey numbers/names have been black. And that's why the blue pants/lids just look better, and people say "Black isn't one of their colors!" Because they were taking two very significant pieces of the uniform, pants and helmet, and making them the color that most people forget is in their logo.

When I first saw them a while ago, I felt, like, "Whoa! Something's weird here." Then, I realized the helmets are all blue (like UN peacekeepers), and also that the tone of blue is much brighter than before.

All things considered, I like it. It's a bit better than before.

(I don't think the Avs will ever quite be one of the best jerseys, though, as their design / logo is a bit too 'busy'. But they're fine.)

Needless to say, nothing in the franchise's history or future matches the late-80s' / early-90s' Quebec Nordiques jersey -- one of the prettiest in NHL history:

Out of the 90s teams, i never liked Atlanta, Senators, Predators and Tampa designs. I would say Tampa improved visually by dropping black and making their current uniforms simple - after all, they are literally Toronto clones. But at the same time they gave up what made them unique. And i dont like their logo at all, i should like it for its simplicity, but i just dont. As far as i am concerned, its ugly.
Regarding the other 90s design, Avs i love obviously, i chose them to be my team literally cause of it (being a top team helped too, but i could have chosen Wings, Devils or Stars), Sharks and Canes were fine by me (though obviously Whalers design was superior, i still kinda like the Hurricane logo), Panthers i mentioned. Forgot anyone?

Nice to talk to someone who cares about this stuff, sorry i lashed out at you in my initial reaction, was bit too defensive about my precious Avs :)

What do you think about Seattle design? Logo, colors, name?

No worries about earlier! I completely understand how such discussions can get a little heated! :)

For the Kraken, I think the kid in me wanted to see something more like the figurative illustration of a monster. Something menacing, in mouvement. Like the old panther jersey when you think about it :p

I don't know if they could have pulled it off elegantly, though. Not a fan of the design. I think it gives me flashbacks of the Habs' affiliate, the Rocket. I kinda hate their logo.

Completely agree with you on Thrashers, Senators and Preds, BTW! I think that they all went for interesting color schemes with the jerseys but the shapes, the logos... don't like any. I remember thinking it was bold of the Sens to use a golden color, though.

And yeah, Tampa is getting better lately! BTW, someone told me recently that all teams should have an extra feature on their pants like the little bolt on the Lightning's pants. If it's a small thing, it could add a nice little;e detail without needing to overcharge the main logo, so I think this idea has potential. Is that crazy? :p

I dont know about all teams, but I do think that's a cool area to add some uniqueness too without making the jersey or look too busy or put there. I love the bolts on the pants, or the stars on the sides of the caps/old north star pants

I thought someone was slandering the RR and was about to slap them around a bit.
