'Stat watcher' followed by 'watch the games' and both used by a poster who cheers for the players team and is likely anything but objective in watching that player.
“Stat whacker” is the one that I don’t like. Inferring that people pleasure themselves to a stat sheet? Geez.

"Score Effects"

A made up construct to try to account for limitations in Shot counting stats. Shots taken while behind or leading are weighted differently.

In last night's Flyers - Leafs game, here is how that would have played out.

For 9 mins of the first, every shot taken was equally weighted.

leafs score - after which every shot taken for the next 3 mins by the Leafs is weighted as more significant than shots taken by the flyers

Flyers score - for the next 6 mins, all shots are equally significant again

flyers score - for the remainder of the game they never tie or relinquish the lead. Shots for the next 42 mins of hockey are weighted as more significant for the Flyers.

Makes sense of course because that's how hockey is played ..... sheesh.

I hate when a player makes a suspendable hit that hurts someone and his team’s fans are like “I’m not even mad. We’re better with [AHL guy] in the lineup.”

Such a troll

This makes no sense.. It means ignoring team needs and situations.

It's implied that we know what 'in a vacuum' means. Thanks for clearing up the meaning of the term. My point was, it is a saying/term on HF that I don't particularly enjoy, which is the point of the thread. Make sense now? :thumbu::thumbd:?

When people claim a pick is “essentially” a different round.

Like pick 33 is “essentially a first”.

Or pick 29 is “essentially just a second”.

CAN
"That was dirty./filthy" (about a goal, deke, or hit)

"Joke." "That's a joke, Refs are a joke, officiating is a joke, vegas is a joke"

Here's two that are used on TV that I hate.

NIFTY
isn't used very much on here thank god but Gord MIller ALWAYS Used to do it like ten times a period then Jennifer Hedger would add it into her piece.

The FRAME.

Also...The reasons these are bad

Generational -I could kill the person who started this. It's always been a term but never one people really cared to use but because the best new player in the Game is called it, from media to other media personel every NEW good player and old legend is pondered by fans what is, thus has become over-used and no one can take it seriously anymore.

AINEC- It's ironic because the only time someone uses this term, it's usually about something that IS CLOSE or you wouldn't feel so insecure about the point you were making that you had to use the term AINEC.

Generational AINEC

...See what I did there?

But yeah, 'generational' is easily the worst and most misused saying on this site. You can't even take it seriously anymore.
