- I am not insinuating anything. He is a good GM.
- Yeah, we are still in the same boat ast that 105 point team though we have a division title now. We haven't won in the playoffs. I think we should have at least won one series in the 3 years this year really.
- I don't know about most, but many would think that is creating problems with the team;I don't.

Clearly, that is not causing any problems with the team. They got to go on an early vacation in the sun and brag about it. Nobody on the team or management was mad, mad they lost to an 18th place team, mad they haven't got past the 1st round since the pretty boys got all that money. The only ones mad are the fans. These kids are having the time of their lives, millions of dollars and don't even have to get their uniforms dirty. I get it with this generation but Shanny should have known better. Dubas is useless. Hockey is not a game of numbers. It's a sport of heart, determination and emotion. That stuff never appears on a spreadsheet. The fact that Dubas still has a job has me convinced he must have pictures.

I think at least some of the players are angry about the playoff loss. Some fans are too. I don't know why fans are as it doesn't affect us either way. We don't share in the glory why would we grovel in defeat. But seriously we haven't been out of the first round in 17 years! I think only Colorado has been glued to a round longer than we have. At least it is the second round, an that looks a hell of a lot better from where we stand. I know logically, it is not, but it sure seems that way. I am a stoic and I don't worry to much about the things we can't control. I was disappointed in the Leafs playoff result, but the it turned to June second and I am looking forward to the next season. I still get to watch good hockey even though it is not the Leafs who are obviously my preference.

I don’t think it would trigger a rebuild. A retool for sure. Get the right GM who can trade Marner/Nylander/Matthews(whoever they fee needs to be traded) and possibly retool the team to keep them competitive.
the right GM who has the stones to do what you mentioned could quickly turn this tream around imo.

one would hope he no longer has carte blanche in trade decisions?
I still think he does. I think management will get 1 more swing this year and if the same shit happens the entire management team from president down to coach needs to be wiped out

I'd be open to dropping Dubas for Gorton. He's made some phenomenal moves with no noticeable losses. Zibanejad for Brassard, Spooner for Strome, got Fox (even though it might be argued Fox got the Rangers) etc etc. I recall reading he was behind the Rask for Raycroft deal (also read they were considering just walking away from Raycroft before our boy Ferguson Jr came calling)....

Why is there no coach option? I'd say the difference between Dubas keeping or losing his job comes down to if he decides to keep or fire the current coach.

The more and more I reflect on the season it's become clear as crystal that Keefe did a piss-poor job with the deployment of this team. Not going to regurgitate everything that's been pointed out about him already but I say a better coach gets this team through. The team had the horses.

Ride or die, Dubey Dube.

My biggest worry for this team is Dubas making a big trade to save his job that ends up back firing horribly
Already happened, for an injured player no less. And a backup goalie that was redundant to a guy we already had on the roster. Incompetence perfected. Or are you talking about 1 of his 4 BFFs?

I.....don't think Dubas is under any pressure.

What would it take for him to get a "pink slip"?

An idiot above Shanahan making that call, or he get's "me too"'d, I hope it's ok to say that.

My apologies if that was out of line.

I haven't logged in here in quite a while, I see the latest topic on the main board is "The Leafs are the best team to have not won a cup" unfortunately it's locked.

13, that's how many cups.

"yeah but......like lately or since like, expansion"

13. Habs have 24 "Yeah but, since like this millenium"

Sure. Sure there buddy, try posing your opinion that way then.

And I'm out again. See you guys in September? (gonna assume that's when training camp starts happening)

Missing the playoffs would definitely get him fired. Losing in the first round could get him fired but almost depends on circumstances like if there's a built in excuse such as massive injuries or an opponent like Tampa.

If the team takes a step back everything should be on the table. Another first round loss next year?? I'd rather another year of covid lockdown... I still can't believe they pissed that series away against the Habs.

Matthews and Marner need to put up points in the playoffs, I can't blame Dubas for that. Contracts are what they are. Richard winner and top 5 points all year in Marner just couldn't get it done when it mattered.

I'd fire him now. Partially because of his lack of results, partially because he's traded a decent chunk of draft capital/prospects the last 3 years and only really has Muzzin to show for it.

That's not even including trading solid depth players like Kapanen, Kadri, and Brown for mostly underwhelming returns.

Pick one option or comment your trigger.

My own line was crossed this year and I would have canned him. The results so far haven't been enough. Even with the big 3 hitting their primes I have less faith next season than two years ago. Even if you like most of Dubas has done, how many first round exits are okay?

In terms of the real world and whatever standards MLSE has, I don't know what they expect? I think Dubas would have to stab somebody to get canned.

he never should have been hired as a gm. Original 6 team that had just rebuilt should not have gone with a rookie gm and now a rookie coach

culture has become a country club with a lot of coddling. its entitled and soft. wins dont matter.... no accountability.... no heart

FIRE Dubas like yesterday.

I've been triggered since he gave those abysmal contracts to matthews and marner and then refused to address the back-up goalie situation forcing babcock to keep playing sparks

The job of the GM is understanding who or what the player is, especially when he signs them, blindly, to a multi- million dollar contract. I learned long ago not to blame the employee who sucked at his job. You blame the jerk that hired him. We all know who that jerk is. Mathews and Marner are gutless, wimpy millennials who only care about self aggrandizement and could care less about winning or their fans. This should have been identified by the head of HR, in this case the GM.

Which team wouldn't have taken Matthews at the top of that draft?

Probably most would have taken him, but that doesn't make Dubas smart. How many number 1s flame out? What makes Dubas so incredibly bad is that, not only did he give Matthews an underserved contract, he did the same with the 3 others. Individually, maybe 1 bad decision is acceptable but 4 is totally unacceptable.

Matthews and Nylander are worth their deals.
Marner and Tavares are not.

If the Leafs fail to clear round 1 again Dubas has to be gone.

I still think Masai should come in and be the President for both Leafs and Raptors. Here is someone who actually how to win and how to build a winning culture in Toronto.
Masai will actually hire the right people and won’t be attach to anyone on the team. If he sees a fit, he will go for it.
