Today, so far, The Band The Last Waltz, Joe Cocker Mad Dogs & Englishmen, Probably go some older live Clapton next.
Great song. The whole album is very enjoyable. Rotten Apple is a great one too.
Jar of Flies is such a colorful, dense, and beautiful EP. Shows all the best of AIC. I couldn't get into the three legged dog self-titled. Loved everything before though and they've put out some good stuff with Duvall.
Post-punk? Pretty much my grad school and the whole period after was all about that. I just saw Killing Joke this past September fulfilling a dream and I've been into Sioxsie, Gang of Four, Chrome, Bush Tetras, Bauhaus, The Cramps, Magazine, etc.
Speaking of post punk and reggae. Any of you know Hollie Cook? She is the daughter of the Sex Pistols drummer and has a wonderful wonderful voice. She calls it "Tropical Pop" but it's very reggae influenced. I first found out about her on WFUV (for those from NY know the station) the day after the Rangers were knocked out in 2012. Does a nice dub cover of When The Beat Goes On. Her latest album is about a year old and was produced by Youth from Killing Joke.
Yet another group that ended far too quickly.Sublime.
I agree jar of flies is great but nobody's mentioning Sap? I know it's a short EP but everything on there is gold. How many times I played those songs on my acoustic guitar when I was around 20 years old down in Baltimore harbor playing for money so we can go to the Denny's at 1 in the morning.....
And no mention of Mad Season, probably the greatest record from that whole era![]()
Also enjoyed Staley's side project with Mad Season.
I remember wearing the album shirt for that in high school and for years afterwards.
I beg your pardon good sir!
Lol, I missed that one, you gals have been babbling over AIC for awhile now
Hype ! The movie !
same as most weeks, Free, Humble Pie, Little Feat, Rory Gallagher, Little Jimmy King, Tedeschi Trucks, Hot Tuna, Cold Blood, Delaney & Bonnie, Steel Pulse, Luther Dickinson, Daktaris, Ellis Hooks, Otis Rush, Duane Allman, Skynyrd, '69-'77 Dead
Someone first played the title track for me in college; at some point during the song, she said “THIS is Rock ‘n’ Roll”, and I could not argue.Whoever said Marquee Moon, I know it's cliche by this point but one of the greatest guitar albums ever made. It's not fancy at all but Verlaine/Lloyd the interplay and tone, how did they record that with obviously a limited budget?
Rodrigo Y Gabriela are awesome. I love the album they did with a full band/orchestra. They even played with Marty Friedman.

@One Winged Angel I loved the 59 Sound. They played it during warmups for a Rangers/Caps playoff game back in the day (2009). Shame that the band changed so much after.
Love the Marty Friedman reference, big Megadeth fan.
All this and no mention of Black Keys? Or more classical, Police?
