My runner up is 2010, losing the playoff spot in the shootout in the last game of the season. I was in a funk for days after that.
My vote went to the Cup loss. Partly because I thought we screwed ourselves over (AV would get the lead and then try and turtle out the 1-0 win in every. single. game. I still think that we could have won that series if they played to win rather than to not lose). But the main reason that one hurt the most was that it really felt like that was the point where it became clear that the team wasn't really a contender. We weren't elite anywhere but in goal, and to win a Cup with a team like that, everything has to fall your way. That year, it really felt like things WERE falling out way. So many come from behind series. So many different heroes. Then, with that loss, the realization really hit that the odds were pretty good that THAT was Henrik's one real chance at a Cup w/the Rangers.
With this current group, it's the exact opposite. We're on a similar sort of run through rounds one and two, but it's more of a pleasant surprise, with the awareness that the team will likely be MUCH better in the next few years
