For me the most heart breaking end was getting knocked out of the bubble. Henrik last game was a loss suffered with no fans in the building, in silence. The man deserved his moment and it was never given.
everything ends badly.gif

Very, very few stars get to walk off into the sunset. It's not like it would've been any better if he lost it in front of a crowd.

2014 Cup Final.

LA only ever had a lead in one of the games (game 3). We had the lead in every other game. 3 of the games went to OT. 2 of them 2OT.

We could have won. I don't buy the bullshit "Kings were better" narrative. They had better luck and Vigneault couldn't help himself forcing our guys to turtle with a lead. And that's how I'll always remember Vigneault and why he's one of my least favorite Rangers coaches. Guy had no guts. He forced our team to turtle with leads.

We hit the post several times in OT. We could have won that series.
I got a lot of shit on here after that series for saying it, but I still maintain that Final was rigged. That's what makes it so heartbreaking for me. The Rangers had more than a chance to win that year, but it was taken from them, not so much from a "better" Kings team, but a propped up Kings team as one of the 'best ever". I'm of the belief that the NHL wanted a "dynasty" and the Kings were their darlings. The "goaltender interference" that was never called. Phantom penalties, phantom icings, media only talking to LA reporters. Any break LA needed, they were given.

2017 has the stink of AVs poor player usage, which is true. Because of the AV issue, focus was taken off of just how awful Hank was against Ottawa. He gave up some awful goals at some awful times. It showed just how in decline he was at that point, again overlooked, because of AV losing players while behind the bench.

2015 for me.

2014 sucked but the Kings were just better.

2015 got derailed by endless injuries. Zuccarello was gone from basically the start and we had 0 healthy defensemen by the end.

Game 7 against Tampa was genuinely one of the most profoundly disappointing sports experiences I have ever had.

2012 was the worst for me. Losing to an arch rival in OT when you were a bounce away from forcing a game 7 for a trip to the Final (first time in 18 years v. the same team you beat in 1994) at MSG is devastating. 2014 and 2015 were close but weren't as heartbreaking for me. 2015 because I knew the team had nothing left in the tank with how banged up they were and 2014 because they had already gone down 3-0 in the series before that game 5 OT.

14 was such a blur. I had no expectations we were going to go that far coming into the playoffs. Every series was a battle. Everything just kind of happened and I didn't really have time to think or internalize it all (very similar to this current run and how I'm feeling right now). It obviously hurt like hell, but to some degree not as much as I would have thought.

15, however...the whole season felt like a procession. We were the defending Eastern Conference Champs. We had Marty for the whole season, Hayes replacing Richards - just overall a better, deeper, more experienced team. We have an incredible regular season and win the President's Trophy even with Hank injured for half the season. Round 1 vs. PIT, while closer than the scoreline would tell you, was "routine". Round 2 was insane but felt like the typical "adversity" series that most teams go through on their way to the cup. Then we meet Tampa, Dom Moore scores the late goal to win game 1, and I remember turning to my wife and saying "It's really happening, we're going to the finals again". I'll never make that mistake again. I was at game 5 at the Garden. The low of game 5, quickly followed by the high of game 6 (parallels to 94 vs. NJ), all for it to end with the absolutely dismal performance in game 7 - I don't think I ever want to feel like that again.

12 is pretty close for similar reasons to 15. We were dominant in the regular season, that team was so likable, and it kills me to think we lost to our hated rivals and Brodeur in the ECF. But even that season, round 1 vs. OTT was a bad sign. That series never should have been as close as it was, so to some degree the writing was on the wall.

SMH. Rangers fans. Just have to have some negativity, some pain and woe to dwell on.

We’re leading the ECF! Enjoy you miserable, beautiful fans.

Any loss to the devils is always the worse for me.. couldnt stand them and have many friends who r fans as im a jersey guy.. but then again i was banging this smoking hot 24 year old in 2012(i was 43) so that made the loss bearable 😄

Lmao, well a hot babe half your age makes anything better!

This thread has a bad Juju undertone. It’s conjuring negative thoughts by Ranger fans.
Shut it down. If the OP wants to he can put it back up after we celebrating our Cup win.

2014 because we lost in 5 and that really painted the team in an unfair light.

We were closer in that series than teams who lost in 7 were to actually winning the Cup.

That's out of the options of course. The nadir of my hockey fandom is 2018 when I had to watch Captain Putin and the Shitstains lift it.

2014 and 2015 are close but I had to go with 14. That goal to end it felt like someone drove a stake through my chest.
Me too. That was horrible.

I remember Dustin Brown saying that beating us was the easiest series win they had. I will forever hate the POS because of that.

LA for sure. Couldn't score and Hank was under seige the entire series and, despite this, we were in pretty much every game. 2.14 GAA, 9.27 Save % and probably outshot by some crazy margins in a few games. 2OT loss. 2OT loss. OT loss. Blech.

I hesitated and thought about the 07 loss because that game 5 against Buffalo is to this day my most painful hockey game. But the SCF was the SCF and we lost two games due to terrible officiating and we had the lead almost the entire series.

Wait really? I thought he said something to the effect of "we had nothing left in the tank, if they won game 5 I'm not sure we would've have pulled it of". Maybe I'm thinking of someone else on the kings.

2015. The other games we (for the most part) at least showed up. Game 7 against Tampa the team didn't show up at all except for Hank. It was just awful

For me, it was 2015. 2012, I didn't think they were beating the Kings if they got past the Devils. 2014 was a lousy ending, but it was such a great run that it wasn't as devastating.

Loss against the Kings. We had a wonderful narrative. A great story. And we lost to tedious hockey with obnoxious players and a coach with bat ears.
