Started watching Squid Game. Passed on it when it first came out because it looked like a fictionalized game show, and those don't really interest me.

Pleasantly surprised at the depth and social commentary. I watch a lot of Korean movies and shows, so I should have known better.

Halfway through the fourth season of Goliath and it's not nearly as good as the earlier ones

Oh really? I thought Season 3 and 4 is where they found their stride - delves into a more David Lynch and film noir style that I felt really set it apart it from every other generic legal drama.

2 seasons into Slow Horses. Terrific spy show. With AppleTVs hit rate not sure why it took me so long to give it a try.

Oldman should have Emmy or Golden Globe win for this show already.

AppleTV is becoming the new HBO. Not a ton of shows but always seems to have atleast one must see showing running.

I need to get AppleTV. I stayed in an AirBnb last week and binged the 1st two seasons. LOVED the 1st season. Really liked the 2nd, but it got a LITTLE 24-ish.

So many great characters.

I found the old series "1st & Ten" on Tubi. I remember my aunt & uncle had HBO/cable, so I would catch an episode here & there when I'd visit..
At some point, if I remember right, OJ joined the cast.
Watching it now, its humor seems dated, but still a humorous take on pro football culture.

Season 16 of Ink Master - LFG
Saw they had a new season the other day and watched the first 2 episodes. So far seems like a massive improvement from the past 2 seasons which imo were pretty awful (especially last season I stopped after a few eps).

Cool to see 2 Canadians, and they seem like the early front runners. Will be rooting for them.

Started this with the wife the other day. We were HUGE on this show in the earlier seasons, but dropped off after they changed the judges. Pretty solid so far.

Yeah the first iteration after Nunez and Peck left was a bit rough. The panel last season and this season is much better, and I'll take more Ryan Ashley on my screen any day.

New limited series on Starz that was released in October 2024... Been watching this show thanks to the wife's obsession with Ella Purnell lol.

Based on a novel of the same name, it's a fun little dra-medy which follows the story of Rhiannon (Purnell) as she tries to deal with the trauma of losing her father as well as coping with and breaking away from her personal issues caused by a life of being bullied.

Ella Purnell kills it so far and it seems like her career is really starting to hit its stride after the huge popularity of Fallout and Yellowjackets, and voice acting in the animated League of Legends series Arcane.

A "Tragicomedy"/Black comedy from esteemed British writer/director/comedian Ricky Gervais. After Life focuses on the story of Tony (played by Gervais himself) who had the perfect marriage to wife Lisa (Kerry Godliman) until she tragically falls ill and passes away. The viewer sees Lisa through a series of video diaries she recorded for Tony and flashbacks throughout the series.

Tony becomes suicidal and hateful toward the entire world after losing his wife and openly discusses his hatred for the world and his constant thoughts of suicide. Between his menial job at the local free newspaper, dealing with his father's end-of-life care, and managing relationships with his brother-in-law and nephew, Tony tries desperately to pick up the pieces and move on with his life while combating his suicidal ideation.

Absolute emotional bombshell of a series. I've never seen anything that has made me cry as much as this show, or laugh and cry at the same time. As I get older and my relationships with my wife and family continue to grow it is hard to imagine living without them sometimes. I can't fathom the pain of losing a spouse, and from reactions I've read from widows/widowers who have watched this series it is very accurate in its portrayal of the pain and grief.

I was already a big Ricky Gervais fan going into this series, but I was blown away by After Life. The raw emotion and solid directing/acting of the series is on-point. The cast is varied and the supporting characters are so absurd and comical that it helps to show the complexity of the relationships in Tony's life. The classic dark humor that is prevalent in British comedy is used perfectly to lighten the mood.

Really love this series a lot. Third season takes a bit of a dip, but still very solid IMO.

Just started re-watching Gilmour Girls, but screw that last season the creators tacked on for Netflix. Such garbage.

Might start northern exposure, too.

Watching a show on Netflix called “Turn of the Tide”. Portuguese, dubbed in English. Super good. Bunch of drugs wash up on the shore of the Azores in Portugal… drama ensues.

Northern Exposure is a Gem. I grew up not too far from where it was filmed. My dad and I would drive there when they were filming and go to the cafe that was the bar. A nothing town, but great memories for me. I saw a couple of actors that worked on the show in the town I grew up in on a day off back then. The guys that play Maurice and Holling were the two that stood out to me.
