What to do about Jack Eichel?

How are we all feeling about these Jack Eichel rumors? Just curious to see where we all value him now or during the summer.

I'd imagine we all have similarities in who we'd call untouchables so I'll name them Kakko, Laf, Miller, Shesty, Panarin and Fox.

That is my untouchable list with Shesty being at the top. I am only interested if we can pull it off with Strome or Chytil going the other way along with a first round pick and and A prospect and two B prospects. So they are picking from Lundqvist, Schneider, and Kravtsov. And then two from Robertson, Jones, Hajek, Barron, Pajuniemi, Reunanen, Huska, and Cuylle.
 
I would only really entertain it if Zib is going the other way at this point.

Largely for salary reasons. Then you have to actually trade pieces cause Zib isn't a centerpiece.

Thats also if we get Zib to agree to it..

If it means Trouba (contract — nothing personal) and Chytil (reluctantly) going the other way, sure, but it doesn’t. So no.

Swap 16 with 93 (health and contract concerns) and swap the first with a second (and a third). Then I’m good.

This. I'd prefer we move Buch over Kravtsov but would move Vitali to get Eichel. Not sure how likely it will be for us to get Eichel without having to send any of Kravtsov, Chytil or Lundkvist the other way...assuming Lafreniere, Kakko, Fox, Miller, Panarin and Shesterkin are untouchable.

Fire Quinn ASAP....and hire a new coach and see if Zibs gets his head removed from Azz and then make the needed moves .....give a new guy time with Chytil /Zibs and then the team can do what is needed via a trade either this season or next before a decision on Mika is made . Do not make trades and then fire a coach. Quinn was always going to be axed at some point anyways...a given. If he goes a half season early....then so be it .

I'm not even sure I'd do Zib straight up, one for one.
I don't think he's as good as most "shiny new toy" people seem to think.

I'm not saying we need another 10M/year player...but we could use an upgrade at C. Our organizational depth is questionable, and that's assuming Mika is healthy and not suffering from post covid malaise.
 
There is a chance that Eichel is going to be put on LTIR soon. If so, that would change my vote to 'definitely not' until we get a look at him once he's healthy again.
 
I said hard pass. I’d take him for a serious discount, but one that I don’t think is realistically possible. So, a pass for any price that has a chance of happening. We could use a young C for sure, but for what he’ll cost he has too many flaws that overlap with the ones this roster already has. If we’re paying a ton we should be addressing those issues not compounding them

What to do with him? Nothing. After signing Panarin and Trouba not sure how they can fit in another 10 million. I still cannot believe Buffalo signed Jeff Skinner to a 9 million dollar contract. Makes you feel better about all the bad contracts the Rangers had for the past decade or so.

No question..I just don't think Eichel is the one.
