10 wins away from passing Mike as the winningest goalie in Rangers history. I'm not mentioning that to fuel these Richter v. Lundqvist arguments, just to point out a tremendous milestone that's approaching. I don't know about you guys, but Mike was my childhood hero, and Henrik has been everything I ever could have asked for as a player and representative of the Rangers organization. It will be an amazingly emotional night for me when be gets #302.

I'm right there with you.

Also 2 shutouts from passing Giacomin as the team's all-time shutout leader. Hank is in the middle of an amazing career, looking at the company he is joining - two of the team's best, and most loved and respected goalies. I agree with you, we might well be in the middle of watching a hall of fame career, and that is a pretty awesome thing.

Glad that Lundqvist is getting back into his old self in good time for they Olympics, but furious that he had get a shutout against Detroit.

I pitty us wing fans... :´(

This here is for future reference as Lundqvist is signed long term. If the Rangers at some point in the future do decide to trade Lundqvist, or Lundqvist asks for a trade, the odds are based on semi recent history, the return may not be that great:

Franchise goalies are like franchise QBs or aces. It's just better off to ride it out with them unless there's a catastrophic injury or an repairable rift.

Especially when a guy like Lundqvist has given this organization everything and this was the first season where he was inconsistent for more than a few weeks. It's better to just let it play out than overreact.

The plus side of it all is that the Rangers discovered a very suitable back-up who is younger.

I think Hank will get a Cup when all is said and done. I just hope its with the Rangers

Sorry, but your post is naive. Hank can't get a cup, only a well oiled team may get the cup. The idea that Hank carried the team and did it all by himself is getting old and funny. This season proved that Hank needs lots of help from the team and always did IMO.

This season has proved nothing because it is far from over.

I think he will too. Whether it is with the Rangers or not is the only question.

I wouldn't give a flying crapp about Lundqvist should he get SC with other team. BTW, what a coincidece that Hank got his game back right b4 Sochi !! So much for his desire to win SC with Rangers this season...

That's quite the deduction you just made...

Has anyone mentioned the prototype pads Bauer has/had him using all season? Literally 50% of the weight of what he wore for the first 8 years of his career. I don't know about you, but if all of my gear suddenly weighed literally half, it would throw off my game, especially on small nuances like cutting an angle or thinking I'm on the post.

We've identified the problem... Lundqvist is lazy and only plays well when he really feels like it. (Which isn't for the Rangers.) That's why he has been so inconsistent for the Rangers (Never below .912 or 30 wins in a full season, 5 time Vezina finalist)

Read it back to me now. Smile a little.

He will not be a finalist for Vezina this season. Yet he has a very good chance to win gold in Sochi. I just do not route for any team there and that is a main reason for my disappointment. I wish Selane gets gold medal in his 6th games. I do want Swedes to lose big just to prove Hank wrong.
Hank is not lazy, he is a hard working elite talent. Yet he is well aware of limitations that comes with long season and plans his form picks accordingly. I am positive, though, that should he not be a lock on Three Crown squad, we would be a close second to PIT right now.

This!

It is amazing how some fans are more excited about one player getting the Cup, instead of the actual team. Makes me wonder about those fans.

Also good point about Sochi. Not only he is ready, he will probably give his all there. Just like he did in 2006 where he went out of his way and came back injured to the Rangers. And it took a few years for the effect of the injury to go away.

I have no idea what you're trying to insinuate here. None. I dont think you do either.

Yup, loose correlations like this usually take 8 years to come into focus.

He's already got a gold medal, if you really think anything matters to him more than the SC you' really don't have any ****ing idea what you're talking about. And that would go for any professional hockey player, or athlete for that matter.

Are you being purposefully ironic?

What a coincidence he had his worst start to a season ever right as he was discussing a contract extension...oh wait...that doesn't make sense either. Yea lotta that going around I see

LOL, and who are those fans? No one has said anything remotely close to what you're stating as fact.

Another person to not pay any attention to, I see.

Modern problems ;)

Not too much loose about it. It seems like when the team is on, everything works out, but when the D loose their men, fail to cover the crease, etc. we get bombed.

And 8 years defines a career in which Lundqvist has had very conscientious defense in front of him.

Since the end of December we've scored, and defended better than I've almost ever seen. The offense grows from the defense. Lundqvist's turnaround makes sense.

And before you go off saying that I'm anti-Lundqvist, I'd just like to be clear that I'm not.

I agree winning the SC is what Lundqvist desires the most. Yet Olympic Gold valued in Sweden the most and he is a Swede first and foremost. Sweden won Gold only on 2 occasions at Olympics (out of 20 turnaments). While no Swede won SC in goal (correct me if I am wrong, please), no Swedish goaltender ever won Olympic Gold twice. Guess what were Lundqvist plans this season knowing team is going through coach change transition period?

Damn. I wonder if that correlation is exclusive to the Rangers or if most teams get bombed when their defense plays terribly.

We're 24th in the NHL in goals for. We've scored 2 goals in our last 2 games. Our scoring is just as paper thin as ever. Lundqvist's stats, however, are nearly back to his career norms of excellence.
