As a new Atlanta NHL team becomes more likely, should this organization resurrect the Thrashers branding , colors, identity or forge ahead with something new?

As discussed in the Atlanta thread on the biz forum, there really isnt a better name/ mascot than the Thrashers.

Additionally, Millenials who will comprise a plurality of the Season Ticket base has strong nostalgia for The Thrashers and incorporating a modernized version of the team’s branding/jerseys / identity will do alot to galvanize support for the team

If for whatever reason The Thrashers name and identity cannot be leveraged here are some suggestions for potential team names

1. Olympics
2. 96’ers
3. Stags/Bucks (we have alot of deer)
4. Cutthroats (decent trout fishing in the Chattahoochee)
5. Terminus HC
6. Firebirds
7. Raptors (as in birds of prey)
8. Kudzu
9. Paladins
10. Gladiators (but in the Knights color scheme)
The cutthroat is not native to GA.

There has been a similar amount of talk about Atlanta as there is SLC. I haven't seen much about Houston outside of Weekes and Buchi's tweets several months back.

It shouldn't happen. Three times isn't a charm. Some never get even one chance. Hamilton never did. Quebec got one shot. Portland never. Even Kansas City got, what, two years? Atlanta has blown it twice and it isn't as if they are a legendary franchise the the league should feel is worth saving. For example the Cleveland Browns should have never left town in 1995 even if they did come back via expansion. That was a sore spot. Atlanta does not have a single playoff series to their name. Not one. They have two playoff wins in their career. That's it. Two times they won a playoff GAME! Come on, there are other places more deserving.

IMO getting a team should start a good 7-8 years before they get a team.
You need to look at the demo's in the area and dump a bunch of money into youth hockey so its available to all the kids in the area, build up hockey in the area, especially with the kids.
Then you at least have a foundation for the team when it arrives.

I really do love the idea of combining Flames and Thrashers to make Phoenix.

This is probably the best option, but I am ok with Trashers or Outcasts. It’s 2024, gambling ads are everywhere, just make it a whole marketing thing from the start. Bang trash cans or bangers from OutKast, it works better than stodgy safe choices either way.

Again...if you're going back 45 years and including the Flames, then Quebec has had 2 chances (going back 100 years is just as silly as going back 45).

And wouldn't the fact that the Thrashers were never good mean that the city IS deserving of another team (whatever a city deserving a team actually means)?
