I would love if one of our players did that and actually followed thru with figuring it out

You know what, you’re right. There’s nothing wrong here, everything is fine…just fine
The fact that the goaltending is almost always dog shitt even when they have to pull it out of their goaltending sucks.
Even last night, sure they won but 2 goals on the first 7 shots.
9 goals on the last 70 shots that's not good enough It's simply not
That and the fact that for some reason they can't score more than 3 goals in a game
That second goal was heavily screened, I don't know how it even got through (hint: it shouldn't have gotten through). I will say that this goalie is not good at stopping pucks he doesn't see leave the stick even if its path is otherwise visible. Still you're not wrong, there were several more near misses by Vancouver that could have easily gone in. It's tough to win with this goalie without luck and/or poor execution by the opponent.
Marners playoff minutes should get Keefe thrown in jail.Playing Marner 25 minutes a night in the playoffs.
Marner isn't the reason he has a bad playoff reputation. Keefe is. Keefe ensures Marner has nothing left in the tank.
4th year in a row I'm saying take him off the PK. How is Marner touching 24 mins a night when we have Nylander and JT on the same team. Tavares was under 19 a game last playoffsOur best technical player isn't at 20-21 minutes a night when we need the gud pros to grind out a series win, but our least athletic superstar is at 23.
Get Marners minutes down to 20-21 in the playoffs and I guarantee you the points rack up. Game log will be like 2-2-4-2 sweep.Marners playoff minutes should get Keefe thrown in jail.
Patty Kane has never even seen those minutes
It’s interesting you point out those 4 players.
Last season Engvall had some really good chemistry with Mikheyev. This year he has chemistry with no one so far. He’s gone from an acceptable 3rd liner to looking totally out of place.
Jarnkrok hasn’t found chemistry with anyone either.
Robertson looked amazing in pre-season and the one game away from Tavares. He looks like a different player when he can plays the rush game and he is the go to shooter on a line.
Sometimes it’s about the overall sum of the parts and not the individuals. These guys are out of sync and don’t have chemistry with one another. Im not deflecting responsibility from the players but Keefe really isn’t deploying these players properly to get the most out of them and the lines are totally messed up.
For sure but I find my dislike then was more because of the coach. Now I like maybe a handful of players and that’s it.That 19-20 Leaf team was very unlikeable too
- Looked terrible before Babcock was fired
- Kaskisuo had his NHL debut in net and we left him out to dry against the pens, lost 6-1 with the only goal from Spezza (who else)
- Lost to a f***ing zamboni driver
- inconsistent efforts
Knies, Minten, Douglas and Tverberg are all physical power forwards. If all 4 reach their potential, it will go a long way for us. Hirvonen is a pest also, like a Bunting. For me, the players are all so hateable. They’re soft, consistently inconsistent, never start on time, don’t purposefully forecheck, play Engvall, and their core are ballerinas more interested in fancy skating on the edges than driving offence and being tough to play against.
There’s actually not a single player on this team I can definitively say I like, including Matthews, and it’s kind of a drag to only cheer for the crest while hating the entire team of players. I like Simmonds and Gio the best if I had to pick but it sucks they’re not the players of a few years ago.
I miss Hyman, and the days of Tucker, Roberts, Yushkevich. I’m holding out hope for Knies because he’s unlike anything we have but I’m sure that once he gets to the team and is around this core of babies that he’ll become soft and have a lack of dedication and winning mentality too.
That's fair, I agree that they may not be deployed properly. I actually love Robertson because the kid does play with some fire...I just pulled tonight's lineup for my critique and kind of went off because yeah, it does actually piss me off lol.
My broader point though is that we all know what the team needs and instead of targeting that this off-season,
our most impactful move was Calle Jarnkrok...who's a fine player that is currently invisible, but the fact that Dubas saw him as the missing piece' is insane.
I know the response to this might be 'Dubas tried that with Ritchie and Foligno'...but it was well known that Ritchie was lazy and Foligno was getting up there. Better players than that have moved in the past few seasons and we're never anywhere near it or we're on the wrong side of it (Hyman, Kadri, Marchment). Also, Ritchie and Foligno also were bare minimum efforts that took no imagination (free agent and rental). It's like upper management haven't challenged themselves with thinking about what this team really needs to be a winner; they figured it out five years ago and that's that.
That's pretty much it for me. Zero deep playoff runs with the talent we have is a huge letdown. What pisses me off is that we're perennial underachievers in the playoffs.
Which is really baffling to me in the fact that he wouldn’t want to build the Leafs the same way.Shannaplan is based on the Red Wings teams he played on, the difference is those teams had a soul, they had a conscience, this team has nothing of that.
