I’m not angry at all. I was really sick for pretty much a whole year on the dot. I went down to Chicago and got really intense treatment and honestly I’ve been largely un phased for the past month post treatment. It’s just hockey plus it’s kinda expected they’ll lose who are we kidding. If they win I’ll enjoy it if they lose I’ll enjoy having a laugh about it with coworkers tmrw. I'm not willing to let a damn hockey team let me down anymore in life. Win or lose it's about making it enjoyable for you. Neither of these teams will win the stanley cup that much is set in stone. Don't get me wrong I would really like for the curse to end but on the other hand this is a team that will be dressing Joe Thornton who's pretty much just a stripper at this point and a guy who's back is worse than my dead grandpa's. There's no way I want to stoop to that level of loyalty and let it affect me if they lose, not after that. Dubas & co once again showing politics come before hockey.

It’s also the fact that I don’t really have any animosity towards Montreal. All my animosity reserves have been historically booked up by Boston though Vegas is trying really hard to get an honourable mention ever since they came into existence.

tldr: :tmi:

Perspective... good post.

Dude wishing you a healthy recovery

My 60-year-old love affair with this team is over. This is misery and I can't take it any more. This is supposed to be fun, at least occasionally. Time to do something else with my time.

My mood is wanting to yell at the only analytics crowd, yet again, that I told you so.

Don’t get me wrong, I love hockey analytics, and try to use them to help make player valuations clearer. And they work for sure in that regard. A wonderful aid. But, you can always tell the guys who either only look at the stats and graphs and don’t really watch games, or do watch games as well, but don’t really understand what their seeing on the ice.

Good post my eyes have watched hockey for 55 years, I know what an effective player is under the current playoff format. If they ever start calling games in the post season like they do in the regular season then this current Leaf nucleus has a chance. That aint gonna happen soon so this team needs an enema, need to change the core. A prescient poster yesterday made the comparison to the Raptors before they got Gasol and Leonard (and maybe Ibaka), they would never win anything big with Derozan/Valenciunas made paradigm changing moves.....Championship. Dubas does not have the ability or the stones to figure that out

I didn't watch the game. I could not watch them come out and play badly in an elimination game vs. MTL. I don't need to punish myself.

These guys actually make me miss Bozak and JVR.

That’s where I’m at and that’s what these guys have done.

I will say I am disappointed but not really phased much at all. It's almost like this is the way it's supposed to be for this franchise. I'm not really mad at all. I really don't know what has to change, but something isn't right. 3 chances to put away a team that would probably not have made the playoffs in a full season (they had nothing to lose), and they get behind in all 3 games - that is the most shocking part of it all.

Def a hangover here for me and I didn't even invest that much time during the regular season this year.

As soon as Montreal scored last night it was pure dejection for the remainder - I didn't even want to continue watching but took the pain anyway. This feeling is like a broken record just looping over and over, sigh.

Acceptance. That this core will never get it done and needs to be changed.

It really hit me during game 4 up 3-0. This team/franchise has sucked all of the joy out of watching hockey for me. That should have been a time to enjoy but instead I was just waiting for the bad to happen.

When Montreal scored their first goal in game five, I could feel it coming.

Enough years of gut punches that I'm anaesthetized.

Right now I'm trying to decide who to cheer for:

Montreal? If they go all the way, we lost to the champs.

Winnipeg? My enemy's enemy is my friend.

Colorado? Probably the best bet to win it all, and there's a chance Kadri will pull another bonehead play to justify our trading him.

Islanders? They've turned Uncle Leo into a first line player, and they're playing the hated Bruins.

Boston? Please show us that we were right to let Lou go.

Blue Jays?

At peace, happy there is still lots of playoff hockey to watch, the playoffs overall has been fantastic so far. Kadri for the cup.

I feel like, for the first time in 40 years, I don’t love this team.

maybe I’ll try video games or something. Hockey isn’t fun

Lost to a team that was never a threat. We have no style and no plan of attack. We deserved this.

We have no balls. If your gonna list the biggest things we’re missing, that’s where you have to start. Our best paid players are absolutely gutless.

great comment right here. Sums up all of us at some point

Glad I did my wall punch after game 6. Game 7 was a formality, didn't believe in them for 1 second of the game

I'm just worried now they won't do what they should and that's trade Marner
