You're just a really bitter old man dude. This thread will become more and more relevant as we get through the first 15-20 games and you'll still be in here trying to pick a fight with me lol.
Lol at your characterization... I guess that would make you a whiny petulant child. Trying to pick a fight? how so?

Relevant; if what you mean by relevant is that people will want to vent and have a better reason to vent .. sure I agree. The thing is people vent in all the GDTs , the player threads, the trade threads and .. pretty much all of them... One place to collect a few more .. why not.

Relevance would require some form of result effecting change on the team. Like pretty much all the threads It will never be relevant to anything meaningful.

So they have TOR, BOS, CAR, EDM, VAN and CGY all coming up and we are already below .500.

It’s likely make or break it in NOV again! It’s so frustrating how we couldn’t come away with points vs. MTL, BUF and NYI - If we won those games we’d have room for error now we really don’t :(

When I watch them there aren't enough players that drive play and lead to puck possession and control of the game.

Stutzle, sort of, Giroux, but he's old, and Sanderson. The depth guys do their job. But when looking at top end talent (Tkachuck, Norris, Batherson, Chabot) these guys are skilled and great at shooting/scoring/passing, but they don't control a hockey game.

It's like having a team with Dave Anderchyuck, Martin Havlat, Sandis Olozinsh and Mike Hoffman. Those are great players, but they can't be all of your star guys.

People like prime giroux, Sid, Alfie, Hossa, McDavid, Marchand, Karlson are much better at controlling the game/puck. The Sens don't have that on the roster. Yeah those are HOF players, but still.

I'm not a Brady hater, but I think if you can move him out for a comparable talent that plays a more complete game, that's a good option. He's basically the only guy you'd want to move that'll get a good return. Honestly, nobody except Sanderson looks "untouchable."

In Batherson’s post-game interview he mentioned how they get rolling when they score, and said something like maybe if they get a goal in the second instead they have a strong 30 minutes to close out the game as opposed to the last 10 minutes where they were really piling on.

Then if you look at all the games this year, the Sens pretty much win if they score first and lose if they don’t. The exceptions to this were they won against LA despite going down 2-0 and lost in Vegas even though they scored first.

It’s hard to say exactly what it is but it does feel like it’s at least partially that they get in their own heads. I get the concept of momentum, but they take it to a whole new level.

We have already been shit for 15 season that resulted in us trading away our core players other teams love. There is not much left to do but live with lowered expectations.

Bad management gets you here. Murray was not a good GM just average, and Dohrion made the league better. I don't think Staios will be the answer.

This has actually been my strategy for a while. I've been saying we suck over and over again so when we do keep sucking, it's exactly what I expected.

I was just trying to say what I think the solution is to get a championship team. This core doesn't have it. Don't waste time. Get a proper rebuild or simply retool since we should have enough assets to kickstart things. Then don't piss away assets on guys we don't need or aren't good value.

Restart and do it right or else you're just wasting everyone's time until you eventually restart and do it right anyways...so might as well start now.

Lol lots of people care that its been 7-8 years...even within the organisation. Plenty of representatives, such as Mendes, have made reference to the 7-8 years and that the fans have been through a lot.

Why on earth would you ignore the 7-8 years? You know that meme where there's a puppy in a burning building and he says "this is fine"...is that meme made up after you?
Because the puppy has only been there for 1 year, and is actively fighting the fire, and you're yelling at him "how could you let this happen for 7 years?".

you realize those 7 years were the rebuild? where we picked up the pieces to be competitive now?

so how are they not relevant now?

the whole point of the 7 years was to be bad to be great right now.

if we don't make the playoffs this year Brady and Chabot will have gone 500 games without even SNIFFING the playoffs by accident.

how the heck is that not relevant?

I'm not ready to throw in the towel, but concern is building. I still think they've played the right way more often than not, but coming out on the losing end and being under .500 after actually playing pretty well can mess with their confidence and willingness to stick to the plan. I'm getting worried this season may get away from them before it's too late and the bad habits come back in, but again, there's still hope too. Lots of teams around us looking in a similar position. Just have to keep working hard, there's no quick easy fix.

Chabot has been good lately in moving the puck and controlling it in the O-Zone.

But I agree with you, we need more puck-movers and playmakers. Including in our bottom D pairing. We used to have one there, but he seemed to trigger everyone, so I won't belabor the point lol.

Kleven is kind of useless right now tbh. Like, he doesn't do anything bad, but he also doesn't drive play one single iota.

How's that for triggering?

This was my reasoning for starting this thread, but I was shit on by you and others for "panicking".

But no, there is definitely cause for concern when you see the same bad habits and lack of coherence pop up once again early in the season. Yes, they seem to be playing better in general, but let's face it, the bar was pretty low.

I still think it's silly because none of the proposed solutions are actually a real option for this year, but ftr I thought I was pretty diplomatic in my responses in this thread. My first comment was basically put their heads down, get Zub back, and keep grinding. I would not change anything at this time. There's no quick fix coming. Changes, sweeping changes, have been made. A third of the roster was turned over and they hired a whole new coaching staff. At this point all they can do is ride it out and get extreme in the summer if it's another failed season. Maybe trading a core player mid season is something some would see as reasonable, but I don't think that's gonna change anything, nor is it the time yet. They need to build good habits. Their record is not far off teams like Boston, Toronto and Edmonton and other good teams. I thought Ullmark would help them find their footing and get there, and I still have confidence that will happen, but certainly as losses pile up, I can see it could potentially spiral because we know how losing can affect teams and how they play.

I never put a timeline on any of the options though. Any of them could be done at the TDL or later next summer, and it's not like I'm saying any of them are the correct approach. It's a poll, not my personal shopping list lol.

The tread is more about discussing the consistency problem, which I don't see how anyone can deny is the biggest issue with this group.

And you were welcome to do so, I just gave my 2 cents early and then did agree later with one poster that this board can be emo. I still think that, because days before that it was other posters asking who should we acquire for the playoff run lol, and a lot here were trashing SS barely into his tenure or expecting him to get blood from a stone, but it doesn't mean there can't also be issues with the team at the same time.

I honestly didn't think it was an issue this year and deny the consistency issue, and still feel they deserve better results than they've gotten in numerous games, but they didn't, and those painful losses I think could cause an issue, potentially. They still look better than the last few years imo. I still think Ullmark is 10 times the goalie Korpisalo is and will show that. But, I will agree that as the losses pile up, they will likely get away from playing the right way. That's my concern is the now, not what's happened so far.

We just need to watergate the Jets' practices. Then we can see exactly how they are taking illegal performance enhancers without being caught.

Right now all I care about is results. This is a results orientated sport and these guys have all had their paydays and it seems like some of them are lacking some motivation.

These guys are saying they need some leads. All these other excuses that I don't really give AF here. Athletes and some of them among the best in the world and it's time for them to show up. This team can keep up with the best of teams but if they're not playing in the lead or when their head is not in the game they look lost.

Some nights they look like they're just out there playing scrimmage. I am seeing a lack of drive from the young guys trying to push to play. I would say the top six forwards all need to wake up and look in the mirror and stop playing not to lose.

These guys are so worried about losing, They're not playing to win.

There's two people that are safe on this team, That's the captain and Sanderson. Everyone else is expendable and they need to realize we have no problems cutting ties with any single player on this team.

You trade the captain way before Stutzle.

Guys we absolutely should keep are

Sanderson
Stutzle
Yakemchuck

Pinto
Greig
Zub

Last three are because they have more value to us than anyone is likely to give us back.

Ideally though this crew puts it together. It just sucks watching G be the only guy out there angry every night, there's only so much he can do.

When we got him I thought for sure his intensity would rub off on Brady and Timmy but it seems like one vet alone couldn't undo all the damage DJ's cool kids club approach to the team did.

The game vs Boston today eill be huge for the season if they win They are 1 point behind with 2 games hand and it gives them confidence for next hard games this month. If they lose that's 3 L straight and team will have sames vibes as last 3 seasons before going against though matcups which probably would seal their playoff hopes. If there is a game to watch it's this one and not only because of the Ulmark vs Swayman matchup.
