When he came to wild , he said he doesn't want to move his family anymore. He has accepted a daily game rotation with wild. Expectation is he will be starter from playoff. Guerin himself who won championship with Fleury said if everything goes well, plan is to resign Fleury. People forget when wild tradrd fir Fleury, they made plans for his family to visit him very consistently. So his family will come 1st
How are the Wild going to sign him though ? I would think their priority would be to resign their 30g guy in Fiala first. I just dont see where they get the cap room .

1y/7M AAV with NMC or 2y/6M AAV with NTC
I think the certainty / stabilty thing will play a massive factor more than just $$$ will . I can see someone like the Devils go a little crazy trying to solidify their goalie situation by signing him to mentor Blackwood and Daws and offer MAF something bonkers like a 3/4 year deal with a full NMC. Maybe Marty Brodeur talks to him and convinces him to come to the Devils ( he did so with Bernier) . I can see MAF being a very competitive person and could see the Devils as a fun challenge to get them into the playoffs.

Buffalo could use him for a year or two while we wait for goalies in the system to develop..We could also trade him at next year's TDL of we aren't in it...The Sabres could also give him a pretty good contract seeing they need to add salary

He's got a small herd of young children. I don't think he's interested in going to yet another new town with his wife and kids. While it would be great as a Sabre fan, it seems hard to imagine without other ties to the team than an old goalie coach and money. He's going to go somewhere he thinks is a contender and where he has a relationship. Right now, I wouldn't be surprised if that is Minnesota.

Dream on. Price isn’t getting traded for at least another year. He’s got a reputation to rebuild and that will happen only after 50 or so starts where he stays healthy and plays well.

Replace Price with Allen. Trade Allen and use the cap space to make MAF your 1b to Price as the 1a.
Ya how is that going to work? MAF is not going to come back for $2M especially as he continues with another strong season with 25 wins, 4 SO and a pretty good save% and gaa, especially given he was with Chicago most of the year.

You've just completely ignored the human side of the equation. He's been dealing with very serious mental health issues. There is zero chance he wants to uproot his family and join a new Franchise this late into his career.

Even if there was a team interested, and that is a big IF, I don't see any way Price accepts any trade nor do I see MTL going to him and asking him to waive. This isn't a video game and players aren't fictional characters. There is a real life side to this that a lot of people refuse to acknowledge. Including yourself it seems.

Worth mentioning he waived his full NMC not even a year ago for expansion. I know it still wasn't overly likely Seattle was going to pick him at that point but he would have had to at the very least be okay with moving on. Granted, who knows how things might have changed as he looks to get his personal life back on track. I think it's a conversation worth revisiting halfway through next year if he's healthy and playing solid hockey

Price will be on LTIR. Habs can pay MAF more.

''rebuild his reputation'' lmao , did he lose his reputation because of surgeries?

Also lol at Fleury and Price as 1 and 2 when our team is bottom 5 material next year.

I don't think Im excluding the human factor.

I think when it comes to business, there is quite a bit of interest in finding 3 solid years of Carey price.

If that mean the team who takes him pampers him with every hospital around.. You do it.

I don't think it will be easy, or even doable.. but I think we can't exclude the fact that it's plausible and possible especially over the next two summers.

It's more plausible that Montreal just decided to live with that contract.

Maf doesn't care about money. He cares about the stability of his family. It's literally has been worked out so his family can come see him many times in Minnesota so he wouldn't be alone and it's been reported he doesn't want to move his kids again

Yes. The addiction issues and injury require a long road back to status as a viable NHL goalie. Long road.

Price will be LTIR next year. And the three following it. Habs owners gonna pay that out off the cap.

Didn't know you entire career reputation was lost because of outside hockey issues.

Also Price is not LITRing next year.
That’s too bad for the Habs. That $10.5mm won’t fit easily back into your cap situation when you layer in all the other bad contracts like Drouin, Petry, Gallagher and Hoffman.

Could see him stick around with Minny if they can get a bit of a bargain. Maybe Colorado? Even with the cap woes I see Minnesota contending again. For some reason I don’t envision Pittsburgh unless he’s got a number 1 spot locked up.

Uh, yeah. He is good because the team in front of him is good. No contender has $5M to spend on a goalie. I bet he signs for 2.5 or 3M to play for a contender. Probably Minnesota if they can move Talbot
