Kinda hard to pin down where he might land. He's presumably going to want to play for a contender, but barring a lot of goalie carousel stuff happening, most of the "contenders" already sort of have their goaltending situation sorted. That's part of what makes them viable contenders in the first place.

How teams goaltending holds up in the playoffs could certainly change things too.

But it kinda looks like he'd maybe have to look at somewhere like New Jersey if he sees them as an up and coming team that badly needs better goaltending to take that next step they look primed for.

Or i guess Colorado could come into play, depending on what happens with Kuemper. Maybe Washington is in the picture, depending on how their sort of platoon shakes down in the playoffs. Could see Toronto kicking some tires potentially, but it's hard to see Fleury wanting to deal with that circus. Maybe Montreal becomes an option if/when somebody snipes Jake Allen away from them as an impending UFA...with Price still kind of uncertain? Seems unlikely though. Pretty sure they'll just hang on to their own in house insurance, and again...it's hard to see MAF really wanting to dive into that fishbowl, especially on a rebuilding team.

He resigns with Minnesota. He has talked about not moving his family again. Also with his knowing Guerin from their days as teammates, Guerin has made it clear he will resign him if everything goes well

With what cap space? They have $13 million in dead cap from the Parise and Suter buyouts and only $8 million in projected cap space with Fiala needing an extension and only having 17 players under contract.

I think he ends up in Washington. He’s likely not going to sign with a non contender or Canadian club. Probably doesn’t want a backup position like someone suggested he’d be in a return to Pittsburgh. If he comes back I’d think it’s to have some last shot and he will want to be the starter. Washington could offer him both and the dollars.

I understand the thinking on him wanting a contender only but … he might not have much choice to be honest . That and I could see him go to my Devils as a challenge to him to carry them to a playoff spot . If NJ can offer him the best stability for him and his family ( 2-3 year deal vs. Other teams only offering 1) , I wouldn’t say NJ is totally a crazy idea .

Probably back to Pitt. Minn would have to trade Talbot to keep him, and Pittsburgh is comfortable for him.

He's talked about money not being an issue. So , playing for and having a prior relationship is important to him , as well not moving his family again. Money isn't everything

He's 100% signing in Pittsburgh to platoon with Jarry.
Aside from the big 'girlfriend who cheated on you but wants you back' vibes, Pittsburgh isn't even a contender THIS year. How do they even keep Malkin, Letang, and Rakell and still sign Fleury? The Wild have cap problems but at least they have young talent. The Pens are washed. And is Fleury gonna let the Pens cuckold him yet again?

Buffalo could use him for a year or two while we wait for goalies in the system to develop..We could also trade him at next year's TDL of we aren't in it...The Sabres could also give him a pretty good contract seeing they need to add salary

In this league.. thats a hard contract to move no matter who the player is..

Let's not joke around that teams have always wanted price and still do.. He will get big offers this summer.

Lol. No he won’t.

Ok, I’ll bite: who is trading for Price and for what?
Not much of a return. Maybe a late pick and a short term cap dump. Habs would not only do this to get rid off his contract but also to give him a fresh start after all the positive things he did for them.

And who? A small cap dump? What team is he waiving to? Right now this sounds more like wishful thinking.

I think it largely depends on what happens this spring. If he plays well and Jarry struggles, maybe Pitt. If Minnesota falls just short and he enjoys the run, maybe he comes back. If Montreal offers him more $, maybe he returns home. I will agree with others that smart money is on Pittsburgh at the moment.

The only way Price is moving is if a basement team can't make the floor and Montreal gives them a pick or package of picks they can't refuse to take him off their books . There's no reason for MAF to move anywhere , he wants a shot at a cup and Minnesota has a shot , in fact they may be built to be a better playoff team than a regular season squad , I wouldn't be surprised to see them up against the juggernaut Avs in the Western final . I expect the Wild to sign him to something similar to his current hit on a year by year basis until he decides he is done .

I love this idea for Buffalo. Not sure MAF would have any interest, but he's still a good goalie, great locker room presence for this young team and could be a perfect 2-year deal while the young guys develop. Buffalo can afford to WAY overpay - thats the one card they have to play.

Lots of potential landing spots for him, depending on what he's looking for and willing to accept. 1 year at something like $4-5m would be an easy yes from a lot of teams.

Totally agree. And he is still very capable goalie who can carry a starters load. Plus he is only 34 wins from passing Roy on the all time list.

I firmly believe he wants to be a starter in the league and thus that eliminates the Pens. He does not want to be a backup.

When he came to wild , he said he doesn't want to move his family anymore. He has accepted a daily game rotation with wild. Expectation is he will be starter from playoff. Guerin himself who won championship with Fleury said if everything goes well, plan is to resign Fleury. People forget when wild tradrd fir Fleury, they made plans for his family to visit him very consistently. So his family will come 1st

He doesn't want to move around . He will want stability where he doesn't have to up and move his family or leave them so I cant see him not having a bullet proof NMC / NTC , ensuring he is not shopped again at the TDL.
