What does Marchand need to be 1st ballot HHOFer?

I think he really only has to retire not at the same time as Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin and... I dunno, Doughty? Hedman?

Basically, make sure he doesn't retire the same year as four guys that are very obvious HHOFers.

He can really thread the needle and have Stamkos, Karlsson and Kopitar in there too at the same time.

He'll get in at some point.

I don't think he's getting in first ballot and given this point of his career, don't think there's anything he's realistically able to do to change that. He's not gonna roll off a couple of hart wins or something

I'm not judging his character. The numbers are indisputable.
So why not Almo? Better player than Theo or Pavel for that matter and I'm a Canucks fan.

How is Roddy not in? Guys like Carbo and Duff and Lowe and Gillies water skied off the backs of good players. May as well put John Tonelli or Ken Morrow in.

Mogilny has to be in. I'm not disputing that. It's a mystery to me why he's not. Rod too.

If he were on a small market team his name would never even come up in hall of fame discussions. Playing for Boston probably gets him in eventually even though he shouldn't be in. Had a really good like 4-5 year stretch but other than that his career has been nothing remotely special. Rounds out to hall of very good
More like 8 years and a pretty decent playoff resume as well.

If you look at the average HHOF winger he is getting in pretty easily.

Almo a better player than Bure....maybe in certain years but consistency matters one would think.

Pavel also has the better playoff resume.

Bure had more injury issues, but both were great wingers. Both a notch above Marchand.

Maybe, with guys like Paul Kariya, Doug Wilson, and Marty St. Louis in there, I can see how Marchy would have a case.

Eating a second Bennett cold clock likely won’t get him into the HHOF but I’d be down to see if that’s the missing link

A lot of Marchand's resume seems to be around team accomplishments. Stanley Cup winner? Zach Bogosian is a Stanley Cup winner...

And honestly who cares about any records about being part of an original 6 team? Captain of an original 6 team being criteria? Brian Gionta was captain of an original 6 team. Feels like we're grasping at straws here to overcome the lack of individual hardware. He was in the 5-10 range for top forwards in the league for 4 or 5 years. Not sure if that qualifies for HOF.

Mathematially he needs to be a top 40 player of a decade.

He's borderline at best.

Weber is in the hall of fame. At this point Marchand is over qualified.

Also makes me laugh at the blokes that said Letang wouldn't be in the hall, yet Weber is? Lmao.

Weber is still on the books for Utah up until 2026. What a low ass bar.

Patrice Bergeron deserved to be in the Hall sooner than f***ing Shea Weber.

Shea wasn't even that and got in.

He did win that highly illustrious Mark Messier leadership award, lmao.

Marchand since he became a regular in 2010-11, is 2nd to Ovechkin for most points by a left winger, has won a cup, and will likely finish his career with 500+ goals.

Is Bogosian the 2nd most productive defenseman since he became a regular in the NHL?

Yeah not the same.
