So you've formulated an opinion based on someone you watched in his teens in the NHL playoffs? Gotta give some runway here.

The truth of the matter is, we don't know what we have until we give them NHL reps, and not 7 minutes on the 4th line either.

How strong was Marner? He was down a lot early too.

As I said, I didn't get to watch him on the Marlies, so my only impression is of a boy trying to play against men. And there are other little guys like him who don't get tossed around, so perhaps now he's stronger/can get stronger, or he can learn how to play within his limitations. One other impression is the highlight where he's injured going into the boards with another player during a Marlies game.

So, yes, I have a very limited viewing of Robertson, but that's all it is at this point.
I would be extremely pleased for him to change that impression.

This exactly! Robertson is too easily pushed off the puck. That's the last thing the Leafs need. We also have a coach who does well like the team in the regular season but has no answers in the playoffs when the PP fails and teams clog up center ice.

Yes, the Lightning showed how important special teams are when they got owned by the Avalanche.

The amount of cap space the Leafs have heading into this offseason is actually much higher. CapFriendly currently has Abruzzese, Clifford and Kallgren on the active roster. If you assume they are on the Marlies next year, and that Mrazek is at the very least bought out, the number is around 11.5M. If the Leafs move Holl as well, that would bring the number to around 13.5M.
Why are we assuming at the very least Mrazek is bought out?

What’s up with the Knies guy. We keep hearing he is this great power forward prospect but he has no interest in playing for the Leafs? What’s with that?

He has interest in playing for the Leafs. He will go back to Minnesota for another year at the NCAA. He wants to win a National Championship with the Gophers.

Why $7 million? The summer just started. Lot's of time for moves.

I see the 'voice of reason' has abandoned that ruse.....
There is lots of time, however, if the past holds true, most teams like to do the majority of their heavy work by free agent frenzy day.

I say the same thing in every thread .

The Leafs have to ask themselves a simple question - which players could not play in the SCF?

Those that couldnt, they trade or don’t re-sign.

Probably an easier exercise is to ask which players could play in the SCF?

We got a generational goal scoring season out of Matty. Guessing Matty is going to continue to get better but Shesterkin has peeked.
Goaltending and goaltender impact is far more variable than goal scoring and forward impact. This was also Shesterkin's first year putting up that type of performance, whereas Matthews has been following a consistent generational path since he entered the league. If you want to argue that Shesterkin is going to be the best goalie and player ever in the history of the game by far, then I guess go for it.
You can say we were the better regular season team but you can't say we were the better playoff team because we did not play them head to head.
I mean, we played a common team, and we did better, but if we're going to say it's impossible to determine the "better playoff team" because they didn't play head to head, then Leafs were still better regardless.

I could see Kerfoot involved in a trade, but might not be for picks.

I'm still not sold on Robertson, all I see in my mind is him on the ice after another encounter. I don't watch the Marlies so I only have pictures of his NHL efforts. Hope he proves me wrong, there are other small players in the NHL, Marchand/Gallagher for example, who don't get tossed around like that. Maybe he just isn't strong?
I’d love to see Robertson add 20 lbs and become a rat like Marchand.

Trade kerfoot + Holl thats another 5.4

Bribe someone to take Marzak by giving up a 2'd + Prospect. another 3.8 .

Now 9.2 + 6.4 = 15.8 Its a start all replaceable players for much cheeper

Rangers haven't passed us, and they were hard carried by Shesterkin this year.

I got all warm and fuzzy when Cooper said that the Leafs were TB toughest opponent over the last 3 years... WOW that comment from a 2 times SC winning Coach.... then he said after the Rangers series... the Rangers were the toughest opponent that they have faced in the last 3 years .. NYR has a recent Norris winner and a recent Veznia winner, 52 goal scorer in Kreider and a 96 point guy in Panarin ... we got Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Rielly ... I'd say the gap between the two teams is not just their goalie ... the gap between the top 6 to 8 teams is not a canyon but more the width of a blade of grass. It's not like we are comparing the Habs to the Leafs.

I would say Colorado was the toughest opponent they had to face in the last 3 years.
But of course, that doesn’t need to be said.
That’s what we need to work on. What doesn’t need to be said.
