I feel like kinda shitty move to not start Cossa but bring him in cold after Husso pooped the bed. Husso has proven he can only do so many starts in a row and then he needs a break. A kid is already going to be nervous but now you throw him out there while the team is playing like shit.

I'm with you on this. While not an uncommon situation players often thrive on routine and role definition. Seems like he really wasn't set up for success.

I know this organization loves to slow bake its prospects but it seems crazy to create a situation where your stud goaltending prospect's first action is a relief effort rather than his own start. Giving the kid his own game so he can prepare within his routine with some certainty would have been better imo. Maybe it ultimately doesn't work out any better but its the direction I would have went.

I don't know if this was moreso Lalonde doing Yzerman's bidding by holding Cossa back or if it was truly his own decision but either way that is some poor decision making.

He has been up since the 2nd. Unless he is getting shelled in practice he should have been the starter for one of these games.

Seeing that Patrick Roy post-game interview shows me all I need to know about what a real coach can do... they won that game btw!

this is a throw away season, no reason not to try and pick up a top 5 at this point. Heck maybe this year is finally our lottery luck

They won the game so would you have preferred a pregame clip where they're having tons of fun and then played a lifeless game and lost 4-1?

I'd rather have Dan Campbell coach, and I don't even care if he knows anything about hockey. Given the overlapping seasons, he'll have to wait until after the Super Bowl.

I'm fine with being a lottery team at this point. However after that 2nd Habs game I firmly believe that lalonde has lost that room to the point where I think it could harm the development of our young players and create problems for guys like Larkin who might be starting to question where this rebuild is at. I think after Xmas lalonde needs to go.

I understand the complexity of doing this during the holidays. Honestly that is on Yzerman because it should have happened in November. This cannot continue, I don’t care how the organization feels about doing this in season.

We watched the worst Wings team since Harkness in the Covid year. They played harder and with more puck support than this team. What is happening is flat out unacceptable and is something that needs to be shown as such to our young core. Players must be shipped and I wish LaLonde well in his next chapter, but this one is over…

It should have happened at the end of last season. Seeing what became of the team as a whole during the two major losing streaks, both as a unit and as individuals, cemented for me that he needed to go. Uninspired and undisciplined, to say the least. We shouldn't be surprised that he's lost the room, he lost it for extended periods of time before.
