I feel like kinda shitty move to not start Cossa but bring him in cold after Husso pooped the bed. Husso has proven he can only do so many starts in a row and then he needs a break. A kid is already going to be nervous but now you throw him out there while the team is playing like shit.
I'm with you on this. While not an uncommon situation players often thrive on routine and role definition. Seems like he really wasn't set up for success.
I know this organization loves to slow bake its prospects but it seems crazy to create a situation where your stud goaltending prospect's first action is a relief effort rather than his own start. Giving the kid his own game so he can prepare within his routine with some certainty would have been better imo. Maybe it ultimately doesn't work out any better but its the direction I would have went.
I don't know if this was moreso Lalonde doing Yzerman's bidding by holding Cossa back or if it was truly his own decision but either way that is some poor decision making.
He has been up since the 2nd. Unless he is getting shelled in practice he should have been the starter for one of these games.
