What do we do with Bunting?

T.
If we run another hometown kid out of hometown for getting jobbed by the refs, that really sucks. This city I hope learned a lesson the first time. There's 19 other players that are responsible for this loss and laying the blame on Bunting for what is a complete dive by Zrrnik is f***ing atrocious

Down the stretch isn’t the same as when it’s for real and having a Kadri moment though. He already drew a PP on Cernak and the Leafs scored. He didn’t need to settle a score.
It was just a mis-read play. He assumed Cernak was going to play him tight and hard. He never took a look back to realize Cernak was actually being quite random instead with his head suddenly near Bunting's elbow. I am positive Bunting was not expecting his elbow to hit his head.

It was an unfortunate play. Prove it was a deliberate head shot.

Bunting looked like he actually cared and brought his heart on his sleeve this time around. Noticed him on every shift especially hovering around the crease
Who cares if it was intentional or not at this point. Bunting is more of a liability than an asset now. The evidence keeps snowballing in one direction.

We’re a better team without him to be honest. Don’t care if he gets suspended. Just wished he leaned a little harder into Cernak than he did because he’ll probably be healthy and back for the next game.

Maybe it was the headshot in a 4-2 game.

Look at the replay from the rear camera view. It was Cernak skating towards Bunting from behind/side while leaning down. Don't see anywhere where Bunting was purposely going out of his way to headshot Cernak.

So Bunting will probably sign with Edmonton, because why not? And end up playing on McJesus wing and potting 35 goals next season right?

Tell that to the refs and see if they can give us back that 5min match penalty.

I think it was one of those greasy little plays like come near me and you’ll get a little pop. But maybe with Cernak crouching like he was trying to whisper into Bunting’s ear it just landed too perfectly in a horrible way. It’s supposed to sting. But not land as a KO with the head hitting the ice.

I don’t mind getting your elbows up to discourage abuse as Cernak had harassed Bunting previously. But it’s a choice of when. And obviously it also went to far.

Get rid of this player. Thank you.
This is Bunting's thread not Lafferty's

Bunting doesn't throw hits like that. He's pretty useless as far as hits go overall tbh. +1 just unlucky there but like I said above unlucky because of low iq. You said it yourself, he didn't read the play. Acted blindly.

Can't help if the refs screw up and overreacted to a situation that involved a player that they don't like. That and the lame ass slashing call were huge game changers in this match.

While you are at it, see if we can get a few goals called back and restart game 1 at that point.

He’s a UFA and not coming back.
Good. I'm honestly tired of him. And I am not surprised in the slightest by that hit. He is small and for a guy that is physical is not really any kind of a threat. He will not drop them, running around yapping and throwing hits. Good skill, can score but is replaceable. Knies immediately makes the team better. Or someone else.

You guys are doing the same thing to him as you did to Kadri and look where it got us. Nowhere, soft as always, and whining that we wish we still had him. Bunting will learn and improve.

At least the guy did something that helped us going forward. Everyone else was sitting there sulking and waiting to go home after the second period. Bunting influenced future games and I wish some of our fourth liners or Schenn pulled some antics in the third period to give us an edge in the upcoming games.

he had a good year last year. In all honesty I thought hey we found our Hyman replacement for cheap.

But man did he prove me wrong this year.

Good riddance. Useless player.

Stupid or not he showed up to play tonight and displayed heart. He went to the crease every shift even when he was out numbered 1 to 4. We don't need massive hits to display heart all the time. I saw you call out McCabe for being soft when he didn't drop the gloves to acquire the instigator power play, so you have no choice but to agree with me. Hitting the nobodies on the other team has almost zero effect on the game. Hit Kucherov like that (okay the bar is too high with Kuch, at least Paul and above) then engage in the resulting brawl if you want to be embedded in Leafs memories.

Desperate for guys to show heart every year, and our first instinct is to remove Bunting from the lineup because of one mistake. Typical.

Bunting can provide necessary depth scoring when he plays the way he played tonight. Anyone who claims they didn't notice him every shift is lying.
