What do we do with Bunting?

Meh. He gets suspended so he won't play. What he produces is not enough to overcome his production.

He just so happened to take out a Top 4 D. So thanks for the parting gift.

There's a chance that was his last play as a Leaf. I don't think he'll get more than 2 games but he could realistically get anywhere from 1-5.

I missed the second period (was box score watching.) Sounds like Bunting did something stupid again.

Honestly, I'm not that upset about it. Knies and Woll should be in next game.

Maybe unpopular opinion, but looking at the replay repeatedly I don't see it as a dirty hit. Seems like he was looking away and making contact with Cernak and it was just unlucky that he got clipped by the head and fell awkwardly.
I have no complaints about that call.

Tin foil hat talk here.

Bunting left buttmans child team to come to Toronto... First year ok. 2ndyear, call was to punish bunting for leaving the haven that it Arizona.... Leafs get screwed.... Leafs don't want sign him... He goes to another American team... Refs start giving him the calls and he becomes a great player.

*Tin foil hat theory*

Lol

That’s a bad take. He knew exactly what he was doing.
Maybe or maybe not, but to me it didn't look like he was trying to intentionally hurt Cernak or going for his head. Cernak just happened to lean down and got clipped by Bunting's shoulder. I mean Cernak is 6'4 and Bunting is listed at 6'0 so I don't know how Bunting can reach up and hit Cernak that high unless he was leaning down and then got clipped and unfortunately he fell awkwardly to the ice.

Bunting left his feet to make the hit.

He changed direction unnaturally up into Cernaks head. It was definitely intentional.

Unpopular opinion and bad take are synonyms now eh?

Clear head shot.

I don’t think it was dirty either. Just a reckless play. Bunting was flopping to battle for body positioning against a bigger D-man, wanting to use his elbow to gain a step.. but he missed as Cernak buckled down, and got the head.

If Bunting keeps his centre of gravity low he wins the battle and likely avoids any penalty

Its NORMAL to have your feet leave the ice when leaning into a hit. Don't know why people have argued for years that 'leaving your feet' was something intentional when its a normal thing during a hit and also I don't know how its possible for Bunting to jump up 4 inches to make a head hit on Cernak.

When making contact it’s normal to leave your feet but he leaves his feet before contact. And it’s simple to jump 4” off the ice it’s not that hard.

Its Cernak who goes towards Bunting from behind and he just leans into him while Cernak is hunched down and unfortunately his head gets hit. Didn't see at any point where Bunting went out of his way to hit Cernak.

He had a decent game until the unnecessary contact. It definitely wasn't a 5 minute major imo but still a very low IQ play. Low IQ or slow seems to be Dubas' new fetish

*The reason I don't consider it a major is because Bunting has no idea where Cernak's head is. He was just shoving off Cernak, but did it stupidly.
