Leafs need toughness and grit in top 6.. Dubas never understands that a 4th line tough guy doesnt make a team tough since they play 5 minutes a night... They need a top 6 forward that can score but also play with an edge and be physical...
Remember when Dubas said he would trade skill for grit down the road? Well now that we need it...it's the old "If we trade Willy we won't get a player back at the same PPG level" ....so now we won't trade our skill because its a rip-off trade for us...great...so keep losing in the 1st rd forever I guess.

Not a snowballs chance in hell Kadri signs here after telling Leaf management to kiss his ass.

Don’t forget Nylander‘s lack of commitment in the playoffs.

I don’t think I’ve read anyone mentioning Bunting‘s sub-par playoffs. It got me thinking maybe he’s not a top line forward and could be moved down the lineup if they can find someone to play with M&M.

What the f*** are you talking about? in the last 2 years William has played 14 playoff games he has 15 points.

The last 2 years William Nylander is over a PPG in the playoffs so I ask again what the f*** are you talking about?

I was talking about his lack of commitment during the playoffs, which played a big role in the Leafs losing to Tampa.

Except that it didn't it was inconsistent goaltending, and not getting nearly enough out of the likes of Kerfoot, Mikyehev, Bunting Engvall etc.

The support pieces lower in the lineup didn't perform

Those guys were bad, too. Outside of offence, Nylander plays like he just doesn’t care.

I recalll someone pointing out that he led the team in net drives in these playoffs.

But I guess that's meaningless compared to passing on a hit just to go to the bench after a long shift.

Bunting's playoff performance wasn't great, but I wouldn't call it "sub-par", especially for a rookie. I wouldn't mind getting someone better (I wouldn't mind getting someone better at every position), but I think you're being a little harsh.

Nylander does his job his job is to score.

The New England Patriots have a slogan "do your job." that's it that's all they ask of their players they don't ask them to do things they can't do.

Nylander job is to score that's it, it's not his job to play defense that's not why he's there, his job is to score that's it.Nylander did his job.

Kerfoot didn't in fact he cost them game 6.

Bunting didn't

Campbell didn't

Mikyehev didn't

Engvall didn't

There 2 are 20+ goal scorers in that group

There are 2 50+ point scorers in that group in fact one of them hit 60 points.

There is a 15 goal scorer and an a supposed "elite" PK in that group

There is an "all star" goalie in that group.

They did not do their job and that's why we are here

When your only argument is points... but a player can score 2-3 points in a game and being trash...

If you dont put any kind of energy 1st 50 minutes and your team trailing like 4-0. You can scored 3 points and lost 7-3 that dont erase the fact you was trash around 85% of the game. But yes on paper that will look pretty good. Thats the thing people have difficulty to understand with nylander.

An other exemple you scored 1 goal and watching you teammate making great play and get an free second assist but in the other way... your lack of commitment defensive side cost 1 goal against and forced your teammate to take 2 penalties to repair your lack of commitment... overall you look good 2 points + 1 but at the end, you didn't had a positive impact.

And you can have player with 0 and be terrific like a Anthony Cirelli or phillip Danault.. he didn't score a lot but what a hell of a job he did to counter best opposite player.

The best case scenario if leafs dont want to spend a lot for tandem shoukd be a tandem of blackwood and Murray ( when he will be buy out

His job is to help the Leafs win games. Unfortunately he doesn’t sacrifice enough to help them win in the playoffs.

Not a relevant comparison.

Bullshit. All hockey players have to defend to some degree.

just because you can't understand the comparison does not mean it's not a legit comparison

I understand it perfectly, but it is irrelevant as a comparison.

In football there are 11 players on the field with clearly defined roles so it is easy to say 'just do your job'. Players can do one thing and the team can be successful. In hockey there are 5 players on the ice (obviously not counting goalies) so all players need to do more than just one thing. If they do not do more than one thing the team will not be successful.

Very true. He should simply drop 30 PTS a game - like an NBA star but in hockey. That would almost be enough.
Or simply play hockey. Is it too much to ask a guy to battle for a puck down a goal in the dying minutes of game 7?
