So as expected, this team is still:

• charmin soft. Even the guys that have the size, don't have the mentality.
• lacking in shooters
• lacking in handedness variety for forwards. Problem at ES, but even more so on PP.
• goaltending still questionable
• has hack Lindy Ruff who hasn't been a competent coach in any role in over a decade, less one season.

Which is why, yet again, the under on team total points was a lock. Hopefully they prove me wrong

Agree. I liked the way devils moved the puck and tried to be creative with it. Some passes caught some players (in O zone) off guard. To me it just seems like a bit more ambitious play compared to last season. I absolutely detested the dump and chase hockey, battles in the corners crap we've seen for god how many seasons since 2010.

blackwood has to win back the confidence of his teammates and himself.. I'm sure he is nervous.. home opener brand new coach.. flyers were gonna come out hard. not super happy w pp... the second unit with bratt and Holtz looks more dangerous than the first unit which imo is not a good combo of players... i saw some first game jitters .. lets see if they settle in a bit here.. one game let alone one period is not enough to really make any rash judgements.. settling down and finishing this game workmanlike will make me feel a lot better.

The reactions in here by many are quite predictable. The team has been figured out after one 20 minute period.

Disjointed but I’m not surprised. These lines were jumbled together after two to three days of practice with the same trios. Also, we had to play down a defender already with Smith missing a couple of shifts.

Everyone breathe. Let’s see how they come out after intermission.

Hopefully Palat was just shaken up and nothing more.
