Good grief man, can’t pass for shit is all you got?
He’s fast, he hits, he scores, he fights, how many Oilers do those things?
I was one of Holloway’s biggest supporters, but Foegele? Man you’ve lost the plot.
Passing is a big part of fitting in on a roster that's driven by two elite scorers. He's a volume shooter who has a tendency to take bad shots.

And no, it's not all I've got.

He can't produce offense on his own. His production has heavily relied on top six opportunity.

Foegele was an effective bottom six winger. And thanks to a decent stretch with Draisaitl, his production was improving.

I'm not confident were going to see vintage Evander at 33, coming off of multiple surgeries and almost a full year of no skating. Meanwhile the two guys I'm mentioning are coming into their own in their mid-20s, making Kane's salary combined.

The Oilers have finished 2nd in the division for 5 straight seasons

Exactly they are putting up with this every year. They will probably finish right around there again too. They’re capped there due to the shit roster construction. The fantasies of winning a division or presidents trophy type season are just that.

Bouchard is straight up costing himself millions and millions of dollars right now. He’s playing like he should re-sign for about 800k. He absolutely needs to be sat. Maybe traded. I’m typically a fan of his. But this is unacceptable.

This isn’t one of the guys who’s been carrying the team for a decade… He’s young still and should have legs.

If his issue isn't confidence related he should sit next game for Klingberg. Poor guy cannot buy a goal right now and he's still struggling on D.

Kane is a power forward not some finesse passer. He takes bad shots? He was 4th in goals last year. You want to talk salaries, what does Nuge do for 5M, he can’t skate, can’t even stick check as we saw tonight.
I don’t expect a prime Kane but he can still be a force, hell, Perry can still look passable at 39 why can’t Kane at 33?

Amazing that people want to jettison one of the only personalities on the team that isn’t a meek p***y.
To be fair. We don’t know what Kane is at this point. He hasn’t been the same player since Maroon stepped on his wrist and that was a long time ago. His return might help but him alone isn’t going to be enough to fix this team. I think half of our forwards need to be swapped out at a minimum and that isn’t happening in the next week.

Disagree with people angry at coaching. The issue is the lack of defense. They will start scoring when they start defending. Jeff Skinner is definitely not the answer and leaning on Janmark is smart.

Regardless, how does Bouchard come back from the break like this, after the year he has had? That death stare from ekholm said it all. Dig in right now

p.s. our goalies stink

The problem with that is you can't have buy in and belief to a defensive system if the goalies give away a freebie goal every night.

You can do that maybe like for a week or two, but when that turns into the standardized normal and months of the same thing happening, a team is going to check out, I don't care which team it is either, it would be the same story.

This league is simply too good to be gifting a free goal out basically every 2/3 games if not 3/3 all the time.

Goalies are a huge part of getting a team to believe in their defensive system.

Their winning percentage is below LA right now and LA has most of their games at home down the stretch where they’ve only lost I think three times or something like that.

I’m not sure finishing third was on the Oilers bingo card this summer.

Leaning on Janmark is fine but Jeff Skinner wasn’t an issue in the slightest last game AND he scored. He is the wrong guy to scratch and it’s a bad message to send to the team.

Team has always flirted with finishing 3rd or worse every one of those years too. So basically this all checks out ... it's the same shit every year.

You're never going to have one of those magical regular seasons where things go great and the team runs away with the division and/or maybe even wins the Conference/President's Trophy.

That's one of the prices you pay for having a poorly built roster due to poor management (bad goalies, lack of offensive support, etc. etc.).

16-4 the high danger chances. That was an utter schooling.

This team has lost it. Sell the team, Daryl. Or at least fire Schwartz. That would be a good start.
There Keith goes slapping down stats when they support what he believes. Like clock work. If it’s the other way it’s “different level of high danger chances”

He does. He's been a play killer. Which is why he was removed from the top six often last season. And when that happened, he pouted.

Nugent-Hopkins criticism is warranted, but he's a valuable special teams player. And in a down year he's still going to end up in the 60 point range, which is his career average. Kane? I'm not sure passable is the line I'm drawing for someone I'm paying >$5m to play with Leon Draisaitl.

That being said, what's done is done. Those guys are gone. And if Kane wants to come back early, tying the team's hands at the deadline, he'd better be f***ing ready.

The worst part of it is that he's not going anywhere if he doesn't want to. So what are you trying to accomplish following the Ralph Krueger playbook with this player?

Yep, I know.

It’s pretty clear that philosophy doesn’t work (it’s never worked not sure why they convinced themselves it would now) so where do we go moving forward?

Well in Knob's defence, he can claim that it does work. He did make game 7 of a SCF in his first season as a head coach with the same exact system.

I missed it, what was their reactions? I saw RNH bang his stick on the glass when he missed his check and the guy scored but I missed those guys reaction on the wraparound.
RNH banged his stick on the boards I believe. Arvidsson threw his hands in the air

The only reaction I thought was notable on that howler of a classic Skinner goal on the wrap around was Ekholm looking like he said something to Skinner.
He said something to him?
