I don't know if anybody has gone through this yet. I didn't have time to read all 10,000 posts, so apologies if this is redundant. But it struck me how much of the team has turned over since game 1 of the season and how different the lineup looked.

On opening day in Vegas:

Drouin - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Colton - Mittelstadt - Kovalenko
O’Connor - Kelly - Wood
Kiviranta - Ivan - Ritchie

Toews - Makar
Girard - Manson
De Haan - Malinski

Georgiev
Annunen

Players in bold have been traded between October and March. Italicized players are in the minors or otherwise not likely to be in the ideal lineup today. So that's four forwards, one defenseman, and two goalies gone for a total of seven players out, plus two more pushed out of the lineup. Three of the top six forwards in that group have been traded away.

And now here's a possible lineup the day after the trade deadline, plus call-ups/depth options:

Lehkonen - MacKinnon - Necas
Drouin - Nelson - Nichushkin
Colton - Drury - Coyle
Kiviranta - Kelly - O’Connor
Wood - Ivan - Innala

Toews - Makar
Girard - Manson
Lindgren - Johnson
Middleton - Malinski

Blackwood
Wedgewood

Miner

That makes eight players who were playing for other teams on opening night, plus two players who were not available for opening night. Four of the top six forwards now were not on the opening night roster. We have a brand new bottom pair on defense, plus one 7/8D that earned a roster spot during the season. And of course, a completely new goalie tandem.

This is the kind of roster turnover you might see during a particularly tumultuous offseason. MacFarland has basically rebuilt his car in five months while it was barreling down the highway the entire time.

Oh ffs. I hate this. NHLN is hardly on any providers and that is dumb. I'm not getting f***ing Fubo again.
Last few playoff runs, I got Sling to supplement my ESPN+ subscription. Never had any problems with it, and they usually have good deals for new customers. That being said, I'll be going to the one Canadian hockey bar in the city today to watch the game

I posted something similar in the deadline thread. Mine was what would have been our fully healthy squad night 1 (sans Landeskog) and today. Even with adding in Lehk and Nuke to opening night the contrast is staggering.

That is an absolutely huge influx of talent.

Normally I’s be worried about chemistry with that much turnover but they haven’t had any all year anyways so I doubt it can get worse lol.

Thats how I would do it or slow teams. You dont want to be playing him against fast teams on the road where you dont get last change.

I do think if it comes to it, a healthy, and fairly fresh adrenaline fueled EJ will work in the 6 spot.

I'll be rooting for Sam2 to rise to the occasion, but EJ works as insurance there.

Bednar today said they have their top 5 D and then 3 different guys for the 6 spot they will decide between based on matchups and how they’re performing.

Exactly how I would have expected it to go. If EJ gets that spot going into the playoffs, it will be because he earned it.

Nothing will be given to any of the guys on the edge of this roster, and I'm here for it.

Coyle wasn’t acquired to stick on the 4th line.

He’s the only guarantee to be on the 3rd line. Everybody else is up for discussion.
Not just on the 3rd line, at that price he needs to play exclusively center. None of that winger taking faceoffs bullshit.

After what we paid for him I really won't be happy if he doesn't stick at center, especially after the Colton fiasco.

Drury is a 4th liner through and through.
