Any news on if Coyle play tonight vs Leafs?

Edit: Carlo will play for the Leafs so surely Coyle will make his debut too.

So, who's our whipping boy now? (Outside Girard of course)
Probably @chet1926 or @nammerus

(Until we lose in playoffs in the first round and they both point out that we wasted way too many assets on this year, everyone says at least we went for it, and then over the next six weeks of playoffs culminating in Mikko lifting the Cup for the Stars, we all slowly come around to their point of view.)

Interesting comment from MacKinnon today.

He was asked about bringing in vets Nelson/Coyle.

He basically said you can’t win with young players in this league. Seems like he really values experience.

It was interesting comment. I guess if you look at the Avalanche and when they won their first Cup (current team) it was a long and hard way. We had to grow quite a bit to actually win it all. Not to mention first go through some terrible times. I guess it makes sense he values experience.

Love how you clearly have no idea what I wanted...I wanted them to use assets and go for it. I just didn't think CMac would get a big deal done. He did.

If they lose, they lose at least CMac have them a chance this year after failing to do so in some previous year.

Now there are no more excuses for this team, they better bring the effort needed to win on nightly basis.

This is what I feel like will happen.

Ross needs to get his head out of Miles' ass and play like he did before he broke his foot and that 3rd line is real hard to play against
If/when Landy returns, I think this would be an awesome 3rd/4th line:

Landeskog - Drury - LOC

It then leaves this mix of players to make the other bottom 6 line and basically have an interchangeable bottom 6 with no true '4th line' - Coyle, Kivi, Kelly, Wood, Colton. I'd run:

Colton - Coyle - Kivi or Colton - Kelly - Coyle.

Lots of options for Bednar

This league is so stupid. Leafs vs. Avs post-deadline and you can only watch it on NHL Network.

I have a feeling what MacKinnon meant is you can't win with prospects.

Makar, Byram, Girard, Newhook, NAK, even Rantanen were all 25 and under when we won the Stanley Cup IIRC.

Let's not forget MacKinnon said he'd trade ten 1sts for Lehkonen after the WCF.

He doesn't care much for picks or prospects. He wants to win.

I’m excited to see this second line in action.

Drouin - Nelson - Nichushkin

On paper that line has everything you need. Goal scoring, pace in transition, skill, board work, net front presence, defensive IQ.

We’ll see if it clicks.

I also wouldn’t mind seeing Drouin back with MacKinnon at some point.

Drouin - MacK - Nuke
Lehk - Nelson - Necas

I feel like that top-6 goes hard too. I don’t know how much offence they get out of the bottom-6, but it’s going to be much tougher to play against. Fun times ahead.

Coyle wasn’t acquired to stick on the 4th line.

He’s the only guarantee to be on the 3rd line. Everybody else is up for discussion.
