Last I checked the Bills defense has given up the most explosive plays in the NFL. There's no brownie points for those plays mostly coming as runs or YAC instead of deep bombs. I agree he's doing a good job of taking away over the top passes, but it's at the expense of everything else a safety is responsible for.
Also, he gave up the hail mary, so it's not zero.
How many of those chunk plays have been Hamlin's responsibility, though?
The Hail Mary was way more on Taron Johnson than Hamlin. TJ was in front of the receiver and fell down instead of keeping his balance so that he was in position to knock the ball down.
The big pass play to Nico Collins was on Bishop.
When you are getting gashed in the run game, I am not going to point the finger at Rapp or Hamlin when they are lined up 15+ yards off of the line of scrimmage.
Hamlin isn't perfect. But, he isn't the liability that a lot of people are trying to make him out as, either. And a lot of people that are critical of Hamlin's play do not have any idea what Babich and the rest of the coaches are asking Hamlin to do.
He's day to day with the knee.
My guess is that he will be limited most of the week and the first real indication we will get about his availability is if Zach Davidson gets elevated off of the PS for the game.
If Davidson is elevated, that will point to Kincaid missing the game. If he isn't, that will point to Kincaid being good to go.
