Wearing your team's jersey to a game not involving your team

Wear what you want.

You can be a hockey fan, living or visiting a city that's not your team's city, and go to a game that doesn't involve your team. It's common. You're free to show your team's colors while enjoying another team's game. Hockey that doesn't involve your team is still hockey. Just don't be d-bag and disrespect the home crowd.

What happens if you wear an Oilers jersey to the Saddledome when the Oilers aren't playing?
Sorry to revive the thread,... I forgot to check back in.

You'd have to ask an Oiler fan who lives in Cgy or Edmonton as I've never had that experience...

but to my earlier point... shouldn't it be about the same as wearing the opponent's jersey? I mean, I'm an Oil fan wearing my jersey in your building... it should be pretty clear that I'm not impartial and probably cheering against your team. What about that shows any more disrespect than wearing the opponent's jersey? Both of us would want Cgy to lose and both of us are "wearing it on our sleeves" as it were.

I understand the point about being obnoxious in a building that isn't your home barn, but that has little to do with wearing a jersey. (there are fans that can wear a jersey and NOT be obnoxious)

I think it's fine as long as it's not a rival. I hate when people come to an Isles-Coyotes game in a Rangers jersey. But I don't see a problem if I'm in Minnesota for work and there's a Wild-Flames game (for example) and I wear an Islanders t-shirt.

I've been to a few neutral games. They're a lot of fun.

My roommate, who’s from Virginia, is a Caps fan, so I’ll wear my Oshie jersey when they play out here against the Kings/Ducks. Never been given a hard time about it.

Went to the game McDavid was injured in my retro Bure jersey, didn't even make it on the train at Southgate mall without being chirped. Friends wore some oddballs too.

Damn, that must be awesome being ingrained in a photo of such an iconic moment, even if it's not a particularly good moment.
