So I was talking with my best friend and we got into this debate of whether or not it is acceptable to wear your NHL team's jersey to a game that doesn't involve your team.

Argument 1: Yes, it is acceptable, you are going to a hockey game, it's cool to see different jerseys especially unique ones that you don't just see people on the street wearing regularly.

Argument 2: No, under no circumstances should you wear your jersey to a game that doesn't involve your team, it's just weird.

So I throw this out to the HF community, is it acceptable to wear your team's jersey to a game not involving your team?

I can't wrap my head around what is unacceptable about it. Second of all, hockey jerseys are beautiful and should be worn everywhere. Every time this comes up it amazes me how many people are bothered by this.

Do you remove your jersey when you're on the way to the game? The Rangers aren't playing on the 2 train, so take your jersey off?

But I thought I was your best friend :(

I would, I don't have jerseys/shirts of other teams. I'm going to wear hockey clothing to a hockey game.

Not on the 2 no but if you take the A/C/E you may as well keep it in a bag till you get out because that line smells like pee. 2nd most run down line is the 8th Avenue

There’s no problem with the jersey thing though. I like to see how many different ones there are in the crowd. I like to wear obscure ones to games if I go on a trip to a new rink. Strikes up conversation

Nothing screams I’m a hockey fan like wearing your ranger jersey to any Devil/Islander game.
Says this guy who watched the Leafs vs. Sens game tonight in Ottawa.

If I am ever at a game and it's not at the ACC, and it's not the leafs playing, I wear the visiting teams jersey or any paraphernalia of theirs.

If I'm out of town going to an NHL game when the Sharks aren't playing, you'd bet your ass i'd be in head to toe Sharks gear.

Just last week I was at the Sharks/Sabres game and a guy was wearing full on Tampa gear and some idiot Sharks fan was harassing him. He got told to shut the f*** up and several Sharks fans rightfully notified the nearest usher (about the Sharks idiot, not the Tampa dude who wasn't doing anything wrong).

I still remember sitting next to a guy at a game once who was wearing a Wayne Gretzky jersey. What's the problem? The jersey he was wearing was a Lethbridge Hurricanes jersey

Honestly why should anyone care? Last time I checked, fans of other teams are still allowed to attend hockey games that don't involve their team. I'd say getting your jimmies rustled over something like this would say a lot more about you than the fan wearing the jersey.

I have a “kachina” era Phoenix Coyotes Jeremy Roenick jersey that I’ll wear from time to time at Rogers Arena when I go to a Canucks game.

It’s simply too beautiful not to show off.
