Laine clearly didn't like the board option Kirby presented him with.

Laine didn't look at the board option before he got bumped and turned it over. Dach thought Laine was going to chip it. I agree that he should have been closer to the home plate area especially with only seconds left in the period.

Yeah he's been great. Still prone to his dumb mistakes but it's gone down significantly, seems like Hutson's IQ is rubbing off on him. Savard looks like the weakest link. Hughes should look at getting a guy like Connor Murphy since I'm assuming Andersson/Dobson would be insanely expensive. Even if we don't make the playoffs this year, we need a RHD for next year.

Funny you mention this. I hadn’t thought about it but I can’t remember a gaffe that he’s made lately. He’s made brutal mistakes all year long but that has calmed down in the last few games.

It's going to be much harder to get jacked up for the blackhawks. And you have to fear complacency and the general volatility that comes with a youthful squad.

It's definitely a game where I'm bracing for a let down.

Im watching the Chicago game. They really suck. How do you go from a high intensity war to playing Chicago. I could see them having trouble adjusting.

On the positive side, Chicago probably also isn't too motivated for the game. The drubbing in the Winter Classic they are currently experiencing probably isn't going to help them fight back.

But it's the NHL any team can win any game, Chicago beat Washington not too long ago.

That's the silver lining of the situation, there is no huge pressure to be a top team this season and he can get better slowly. And let's give him the kudos, he has been getting better and showing more each game lately since playing with Laine. There is now offensive production to offset some of the defensive blunders, before there was just the blunders.

Oh, most definitely. They are scoring as much as they're giving away lately, which is why we've had some success. Let's hope this continues.

I would try Heineman instead of Newhook in that line though.

If that line goes into hibernations again, it's definitely worth a try.

Those are always the trap games. Either you don't take them seriously and get burned or think you can take a break when they decide to show they aren't dead yet.

Yeah, I did too. It's just that when I watch him, I think he should be using that big frame of his to muscle the puck out of the boards more often. It’s kinda surprising when he does and I don’t wanna be surprised - I want that to be his regular game. Hopefully, it’s just about him getting more seasoned.
