Crazy last few weeks, they look like a completely different team. Anderson/Gallagher/Dvorak forechecking like crazy and Guhle-Carrier plus Xhekaj settling things down has completely changed the D zone play. Imagine if Dach/Slaf actually heat up here soon
I think Dach is coming around; Slaf, on the other hand, plays with a propofol drip throughout most games

Yes and he's actually better puck support in the slot while being able to react when a turn over happens.
Laine clearly didn't like the board option Kirby presented him with.
Laine didn't look at the board option before he got bumped and turned it over. Dach thought Laine was going to chip it. I agree that he should have been closer to the home plate area especially with only seconds left in the period.

Yeah he's been great. Still prone to his dumb mistakes but it's gone down significantly, seems like Hutson's IQ is rubbing off on him. Savard looks like the weakest link. Hughes should look at getting a guy like Connor Murphy since I'm assuming Andersson/Dobson would be insanely expensive. Even if we don't make the playoffs this year, we need a RHD for next year.
Funny you mention this. I hadn’t thought about it but I can’t remember a gaffe that he’s made lately. He’s made brutal mistakes all year long but that has calmed down in the last few games.

It would be such a Hab thing to do.

I think alot of us have already considered chicago as a trap game.

You are coming off huge emotional highs and I'm sure there was no lack of motivation getting ready for the last three games against quality opposition.

It's going to be much harder to get jacked up for the blackhawks. And you have to fear complacency and the general volatility that comes with a youthful squad.

It's definitely a game where I'm bracing for a let down.

If they have a bad 1st period it would b e time for Suzuki to lead. Give them hell in the intermission.

On the positive side, Chicago probably also isn't too motivated for the game. The drubbing in the Winter Classic they are currently experiencing probably isn't going to help them fight back.

But it's the NHL any team can win any game, Chicago beat Washington not too long ago.

That's the silver lining of the situation, there is no huge pressure to be a top team this season and he can get better slowly. And let's give him the kudos, he has been getting better and showing more each game lately since playing with Laine. There is now offensive production to offset some of the defensive blunders, before there was just the blunders.

Oh, most definitely. They are scoring as much as they're giving away lately, which is why we've had some success. Let's hope this continues.

I would try Heineman instead of Newhook in that line though.

If that line goes into hibernations again, it's definitely worth a try.

Im watching the Chicago game. They really suck. How do you go from a high intensity war to playing Chicago. I could see them having trouble adjusting.
Those are always the trap games. Either you don't take them seriously and get burned or think you can take a break when they decide to show they aren't dead yet.

Someone needs to teach Slaf all about shooting. But otherwise, I found him very effective today.
Yeah, I did too. It's just that when I watch him, I think he should be using that big frame of his to muscle the puck out of the boards more often. It’s kinda surprising when he does and I don’t wanna be surprised - I want that to be his regular game. Hopefully, it’s just about him getting more seasoned.

Bring Jean Perron !

"Slav that for winning a game, your team needs to put more pucks in their net, than the other team in Habs net."
He taught that during a TV panel a few years ago. That's why I am a hockey specialist now and why I understand things you don't

Small reminder that Slaf is still the youngest player on the team...so he can hang out with Lane.:sarcasm:
It's probably the reason why they hired a midget coach in Martin Saint-Louis
