I think I'll mozy on over to the swarming hornets nest, at the Oilers Board, and read their dejected comments.
I have a feeling it will be all ugly Campbell references.

I admire your bravery sir
I was thinking about heading over to the Oilers board but the leafs seemed much more appealing And I was right. They are all Absolutely losing their marbles over there.

I have to say that was a thoroughly entertaining game, start to finish.

I think the WASAC presentation was a very powerful one. Seeing a drumming circle in the middle of the arena, that sits on native land, having Phil Fontaine and a 100 year old elder being celebrated, having the APTN crew in the booth for the first time, and having the anthem sung in a traditional language, there's lot of jive about reconciliation but tonight's game seemed like an act of reconciliation. Kudos to Rogers for broadcasting it nationally too, it's nice to have Winnipeg celebrated for its heritage, in a positive light.

Lots of good details in the game. The new guys had an impact. I liked Niedrreiter on the top line, and Nasmestnikov in the checking line role. The leadership group responded well.

I think the Jets needed Jack Campbell to break out of their slump. Who would have predicted Adam Lowry's goal to get out of a long slump would come matching up head to head with Conor Mc David. Barron's goal might have been the most impressive one to me. His stride is powerful, to create separation the way he did from a stand still position on a good defenseman like Nurse, big time move.

I think it will get interesting now when Dubois comes back, and then Appleton how the roster shakes out, I'd say there are 4 players at least now competing for the 3rd line role.

Samberg should have never been taken out of the lineup, but I love the decision to put Capobianco in. That's been a sneaky good signing all year, if nothing else I think Nate Schmidt gets a message that he needs to step up and contribute more.

I'm going to say that Morrissey was the catalyst, but Neal Pionk played a strong game tonight. I like his battle level against the star power.

Coach will probably be a little concerned about the way Wheeler and Ehlers handled the puck at times tonight. I know Scheif got one on the board in the negative, but he was also dominant offensively. Ehlers and Wheeler not so much, and I hope Stenlund's stint was one game, but still with Dubois coming back, these guys have to be good for the team to be successful. For Stenlund I like his battle level, but honestly if Mason Appleton could take faceoffs on the PK, I'm not sure he'd be a regular.

Dubois coming back I hope also takes Wheeler off the top PP for the rest of the year.

A couple of guys who didn't really show up on the stat line but I thought played well were Gustafsson and Maenalanen. Seeing #19 out late in the game with a one goal lead is an endorsement from the coach. He impresses me not only with his defensive strength, but I like the way he is able to use his size and speed to shield the puck in the offensive zone. I'm hoping he gets some more games. Glad he wasn't traded.

Maenanlanen reminds of those Tikkanen, Jarko Ruutu molds more and more. Just an irritating player to play against. Some good sticks and blocks in the defensive zone, and getting a big hit on Mc David was ultimately the play that led to the GWG.

Good crowd energy tonight. Nice to get back in the Win column, keeps the playoff dream alive.

i thought that was a dogshit game and all we should take from it is the two points. would have been fun to be in the house, but and Eastern Conference team would have blown away us or Edm with that performance.

Toronto lost 4-1 to Vancouver so maybe not eh ? :thumbu:

Agreed. Samberg is definitely a huge upgrade over Stanley. Capo looked better to me than Schmidt has been lately and deserves another game.
I would play that exact same defense next game.

Gus had some rust, but did some nice things too. Nice to have him back in the mix.

Lowry is starting to look a bit leggy in his old age. Might be better served spending more time on the wing.

Niedereiter Scheifele Ehlers
Connor Dubois Perfetti
Lowry Gus Wheeler
Barron/AJF Stenlund Namestnikov

Good on Lurch coming in and setting Nurse straight, good clean hits shouldn't have to result in a fight with the person who laid out the hit. Woodcroft looked like an idiot complaining at the beginning of the 3rd. Oilers should of gotten another penalty at the end of the second as a Oiler cross checked Maenalanen at centre ice.

love how he first had to tell the linesman to let go and then turn to Alex and tell him to let go

They also got away with a lot in the third when they were pressing. Not to mention the high stick on Schiefele when the Jets were on the PP.

Morrissey should win the Norris and be a Hart finalist.

During the post-game browse I noted that the Edmonton board complained that Maenalanen slew footed deJesus, but I didn't see that.

I thought Saku rather gently deposited His Precious gently to the frozen surface. Clean, from what I saw.

I wonder if there is a good clip of the hit somewhere?

Morrissey:
“Saku was a gritty player for us and he makes a nice check on the best player in the world. They respond, which I understand, but it draws us a power play and we get rewarded with a last-second goal,” said Morrissey. “That’s just kind of the mindset that we came in to that game with, that compete level. Saku, that goal doesn’t happen without him making that play. It’s nice to get rewarded with that goal, specifically for the play that drew the penalty.”

I think it was Maenalanens leg position when he hit him but I think that was more about his approach angle and getting beside him to make the hit legal.

Justice was served on that play because fighting because your player was legally hit is about the stupidest f***ing thing in the nhl today.

Oilers got punished for it and the Jets made them pay.

Can you imagine having that Nurse contract dragging your team down? Besides being impressed that he caught up to Connor on a partial breakaway I didn't see anything that would even suggest he's worth near that much.

Yep, that's Oil nonsense. It was a perfectly clean hit, and on my feed at least, the commentariat noted that 1) McJ didn't have his head up, for once and 2) SakMan absolutely let up and the leg was a function of his leg bending into the boards.

And everyone was jest fine after.

Other than that, what a crazy nutso double-choco walnut caramel shaker of a game. Old-time hockey. Goals, goals, goals. Defence optional, until minute 56. Goaltending marginal, in the Jack Campbell conference at least.

Barron whatta game. Name taking names and shots. WheEhlers -- less said the.

Lowry now monkeyless. Capa headlining the Cabana. KFC -- okay. JMo whooaaaoh. Scheifele giveth, taketh and giveth. Also, 55 -- you play for the Jets.

Samberg -- yeah, play 'im, and save the Trees. Stenlund quick draw. Another helper for fuel n' fire.

The Gus Bus rolls on without needing repair.

DeMelo playing snooker for the empty net especial.

This was rockem-sockem hockey, grey-haired coaching staffs and amped-up fans. Fire in the belly, let's keep it warm for San Jose, and burn their wifi down.
