We need to sign Paul Ranger

Gunnar is not over rated; he just happens to play for a team where the D constantly disappoint; but he is consistant. No one ever suggested he is more than what he brings to the table.

There are a few who consider him a legitimate top pairing defender. They are the ones who over-rate him and yes they do suggest he brings more than what he does.

Most see him for what he is a steady defender with a minimum offensive game.

In that case every player is 'overrated' because there are always people who see people for more/less than they are.
 
Gunnar >> Ranger.

Can't believe you guys are putting Gunnar down, did you see how well he's played for us?
 
Im in Wpg and dont get to see the Marlies as much as you guys, but is Ranger really playing that impressive? I hope he is playing for a spot cause I know Fraser and Holzer's names keep being mentioned and steady D-men that could crack the line-up.
 
What's with all of the sudden Gunnar hate?

He's performed very well in the role he's been asked to play in.

Is he an ideal top pairing defenseman? No. But he's certainly a top 4 guy.

Hard to not like the guy.
 
Actually I don't see him as Gunnarsonn. Gunnarsonn is a dfensive Dman, ranger isn't. Ranger can play power play and he's a good skater. He's got a massive shot, I go to a lot of marlies games and he's been one of the best on the ice almost every game. Sometimes he may take a bad penalty although.
 
I see Kostka as another offensive defenseman on a team thats full of them, we need someone else besides Gunnar to think about defense.

I've noticed this as well, there is a slight "full of shat" quality when he speaks, a bit phoney. As long as he can clear the zone and make an outlet pass I don't care though.

Yea same here, the guy was almost in tears I remember when he was first back saying how he was so pumped to be here. Besides he's been good for us so I don't mind eitherway.

As well...no he's not better than Gunnar, unless he proves it so in the NHL.
 
I'd like to see Franson back with the Leafs. But I'd gladly trade him if not either in a package or for a 2nd/decent prospect
