We need to sign Paul Ranger

As of right now he's not on an NHL contract, we need to sign this guy and get him in our NHL line up, he's looked really strong in the AHL, booming shot too.

We also need to get Franson under contract too.

I could be wrong but I remember correctly that Ranger has some clause in his contract giving the leafs the chance to talk to him about an NHL contract also I would not be too worried I feel like Ranger wants to stay close to home.
 
Ranger will be a Leaf don't worry. He's from Whitby, close to family and currently playing with Marlies a lot of friends which he already made.

If he wanted to play for more money he could have signed with Buffalo who offered him a contract or Tampa Bay last year.

He's a Leaf, I'll gurantee it. :)
 
Let Ranger finish out the season with the Marlies, they are going to go deep again this year. And it seems like Ranger will only be playing for the Leafs if at the NHL level so do it in the off-season, we already have too many NHL level D-men signed (including komi on this sadly) barring any trades so why just add to the problem.
 
To me there is no doubt that Ranger will being in the top 6 once the Season starts.

a.If he's a better option than what we have, he should be playing on the big team

b.If he's not, we need to know that before we trade people away to make room for him
 
Ranger is a bigger and stronger Gunnarson. Top 4 D-man this year.

This makes 0 sense. When you can increase the talent level of your team, you do it. To suggest that the Leafs don't improve their team so that the Marlies can do well is just ridiculous.

I've only watched a half-dozen games or so, but hasn't Kostka been better than both Gadiner and Ranger for the Marlies?

I like Kostka but do not put him on the first line man. I can see him pushing for the 3rd or even the 2nd pairing but Phaneuf - Gunnar is our top pairing unless something drastic happens.
 
It won't take long for Ranger to pass Gunnar on the depth chart.

Kostka Gets a shot at least. I understand we have a lot of offensive D already but you cant ignore his PPG average. And hes been doing it without Gardiner. Marlies have a great team but hes been very impressive. I think I would put him over Holzer right now.
 
We really lucked out when Ranger basically just fell into our laps. He's a NHL player and you can see it every single game in the AHL.

In terms of Kostka, yeah. He's looked great in the AHL but so has Aucoin. I'd put a wager on him being an AHL superstar and...that's it.
 
Can anyone thats whats alot of Marlie hockey give us a good breakdown of Rangers game? Offensive/Defensive game?
