Post-Game Talk: We Lawst

Except we had the one in a million goalie who was real and gave us reliably elite goaltending you could set your watch to for over a decade and we gave him teams that averaged 2.2 goals per game in the playoffs. If we had prime Hank right now this team might be unbeatable. I think that’s why it’s bothering me so much because I’m seeing a team with more skater talent than I’ve ever seen on the Rangers and our goalie who was amazing last year looks like he can’t stop a beach ball half the time. It’s pretty brutal just the irony that goaltending could sink us when it was our biggest strength last year. With Igor just being a mediocre goalie we don’t have the edge in net in any series.

The contract stuff could be a minor solace but it’s not giving me any good vibes for the right now lol.

What bothers me is that he has set the bar so f***ing low that at times I was thinking he had a good game today. This would be a bad game for Hank. Igor is incapable of stealing games this year at best and is the reason for losses at worst.

It's more just frustration with the situation. I mean we put ourselves in a situation where we had to play FOUR defenseman last week in a game.

Was it the right decision to basically sacrifice some of these games and the possible health of our top players by overplaying them? Or would it have been better to make separate deals to improve the depth and flexibility of the roster? Time will tell.

Still 20 games to get through with the lingering chance of the team having to play short again if a guy or two or three get hurt.

And yeah, it's all moot if Igor keeps playing like shit.

(Although we must remember an elite Igor still almost lost to Louie Domingue)

Yeah I mean his best games this season still aren’t even close to even just his solid games last year.

I can’t stop thinking about the points Vally made in the pregame a few games ago about Igor’s stance being wider and he’s crouching more and it’s impacting literally everything about Igor’s gsme. Idk why him and Benny won’t fix it and get back to basics. He looks off every night, he’s getting beat on clear sight shots with regularity, he’s late on plays he used to be early on. You need your goalie to make big saves on great chances, we watch the other teams goalies do it to us night after night while watching Igor get beat with much too high frequency. I’m a goalie myself so maybe that’s why I’m being hard on him but it’s just incredibly frustrating to see all the talent we have and the potential this team has this season and then see Igor being bad knowing what he’s capable of and watch him this year looking like a shell of himself. It’s so frustrating and as we get closer to the playoffs and he continues to suck I’m getting more and more worried that this is what we’re going to get and if that’s the case we’re out in round one.

Im willing to give them 3 to 5 more games to get their shit in order because Kane joined with 2 first-string dmen missing and they're still admiring each other's farts during this honeymoon period

The last time we played fast and the rush guys (like Panarin) were any good is when we had DeAngelo.

I understand, obviously, moving on from DeAngelo, but we kind of just shrugged our shoulders and went "you know what? it's fine if only one pair can move the puck."
I know the sentiment is not friendly towards ADA on here anymore but this is very true. It's not only the breakout pass, but especially the way Panarin plays you need a really active RD who loves to jump up into the rush or in the offensive zone loves to sneak down the right flank opening up that passing lane for Panarin to exploit. Just look at the Trouba goal against Ottawa. I can't tell you how many times that play happened when those two were on the ice together.

Obviously it doesn't have to be ADA but it hampers the teams offense not having that second wave available like they used to.

I thought this postgame had good conversation today, overreactions will always come, especially right after a loss, but I don’t think many were coming into today expecting a win.

Now is the time for them to go to work, no more playing down, Miller is back, Lindgren will hopefully be back soon, you would think before missing ten games since they didn’t use LTIR for him.

Get a good week of rest and practice in, and start the stretch run, only up from here.

Always thought it wasn’t Strome, Blackwell, Fast, etc that had the chemistry with Panarin. It was DeAngelo who did. Man I remember those two on for 3v3 was a cheat code

That's very true, at least offensively. If you look at those heat maps that measure shot danger when players are on the ice, Panarin+ADA was like +38% which is absurd. I do think Fast was the perfect linemate for Bread in particular though, he was great defensively, great puck retrieval, did the dirty work, and had enough skill to keep up. Losing him was a terrible mistake.

We should have paid the price for Chychrun instead of doubling up on Kane and Tarasenko.

I wont let that one go

Losing Mets Jets like mentality- “ we didn’t expect to win. We would’ve been happy to play well I’m not getting embarrassed “

You add, kane you add Tarasenko - you can’t say you don’t expect to get a W against anybody.

If Vally sees it you'd think Allaire does too. Wouldn't Allaire tell him to fix it? Is he just not listening? Is it a confidence issue?

I think it's completely between his ears. To me he looks like he has very little confidence in what he's doing and is second guessing himself and he's overthinking everything about his game right now. Goalies are at their best when they're confident and in a groove so we don't have to think about anything.

The best elixir would be for him to have a solid run of 3-4 games where he doesn't give up a single soft goal and he can feel good about himself and start to get into a rhythm.

To be fair as blah as today's game was I don't think any of the goals were soft per se.

Meh, they played 5 dmen, with two of their top 4 out, this stretch was going to be bad, if only we had Kevin Hayes and traded Kakko for Kane, right?

I guarantee better times are coming, we have a good team, people need to chill, it will come together.

Sorry guys but was at the game. The rangers gave Boston f***ing nothing until the last goal. Shesterkin made one high danger save. Otherwise everything went thru him. And he knew it.

Frankly we’re f***ed with this goaltending. This should have been a 2-1 game one way or the other. Instead 4-2 because our vezina goalie can’t make a friggen save ever. Has ZERO stolen Wins this year. ZERO

I've never seen a player self destruct as shockingly as he has after having a historic season.

Would love to see Gallant ousted but Drury will just install yet another veteran loving clone. Knowing this team and their likely offseason plan, we will go out and overpay multiple players in their late 20s to fill secondary roles on this team. And we will probably have a Kevin Rooney PTO type beat out Will Cuylle for a spot next year.
