Sometimes, when you're really angry like Lucic had been, sometimes you don't think, but rather just react. Which is what Lucic did. Not a big deal imo.

No big deal, okay so if Lucic was still a Bruin and sucker punched Doughty like that, you'd have been fine with it? Not upset, applauding him for reacting to emotion?

Just because he wears Kings colors doesn't make it acceptable. It was yellow, a color he likes. Upset at being slashed, understandable. Then face him and throw down the right way. But cheap shots are his forte, and have been most of his career. He's towed the line all year because Sutter and Co most likely laid down the law to him after the Sharks game.

Sucker punching is yellow, when's the last time you saw any other Kings player pulling a stunt like that? He'll be told about that by his teammates behind closed doors. It's not something good players tolerate.

I stopped reading at the bolded.

Well, of course I wouldn't want Doughty suckered punched, that's stupid.

However, if DD DID slash Lucic with his stick, I'd understand Lucic for what he did. So, although I wouldn't like Doughty being suckered punched, I'd understand. Clear?

I have no idea why you hate Lucic so much, but I hope you overcome the hate and begin to see Lucic with an objective eye.

Pretty much this.

doesn't make it a clean play but a player knows when he has it coming.

I get that most posters here are Kings fans first, I'm not, I've always been a hockey fan first. My opinion o f Lucic is as a hockey fan, not a Kings fan, as and such is based on multiple yellow acts throughout his career. Crap that he pulled, knee on knee , spears to the groin, and other cheap shots, for years as a Bruin that fans on this board spoke out again, calling him a coward ,etc, (esp in the playoff a couple years back) now see him in a different light because he's wearing Kings colors. That's wrong.
You see Lucic hate and I see Kings fans with Lucic lust. All his past sins, the all cheap shots and dirty plays are forgiven because he' s a king now, is something I can't get.

What he did was wrong, there is no excuse for being yellow. And is something his teammates don't like either and you better believe he was told about that. The Kings have held themselves to a certain creed of conduct and it doesn't include cowardly acts.

I guess it's how you look at it, my opinion of him has not wavered in all the years he's played in the league. <Most posters here, changed theirs because he's 'a King now'.
That's the difference.

And there is no excuse for applauding a player for being a coward

Clear?

how could he know he 'had it coming' when he was hit in the head from behind? If Lucic wanted a piece of him, he should have done the right way, faced him like a man. it's not the first time he's sucker punched a player, and it won't be the last. He's mastered it as an artform.

For you to lecture everyone about neutrality you sure have some incredibly strong Lucic hate blinders on.

Connauton knew what he was doing, was spying Looch out of the corner of his eye the whole way, and just refused to face him when Lucic slashed him to get his attention. I would have preferred a beatdown over the sucker punch every day of the week, but when teams keep taking liberties on the Kings and this guy starts playing smug/coy like he didn't know what he was doing, that is EXACTLY why I'm glad Lucic lost his mind. I applaud the screw loose every 25 games or so because you know what? No one on the Yotes tried a thing the rest of the night. All their diving was done, all their scrumming was done.

Doesn't make it not a dirty play, but I have ZERO problem with it as a Kings fan because I've been sick for years of guys running Kopi and not having a bell to answer.

Now if the shoe were on the other foot? Sure, I'd be pissed if I were a Yotes fan, but I'd also acknowledge my player's fault in taking a massive cheap shot slash on exactly the wrong opponent. And don't you dare mistake that for blaming the victim or something, I'm not excusing Lucic's act, I'm just saying it's not like it was unprovoked. You seem to be absolving a lot of Connauton's doing by suggesting this is just what Lucic does.

I'm not ignorant of what he has done in the past, but as a member of the Kings, he's done NOTHING wrong outside this incident and maybe the Couture deal. It's pretty clear he's reined it in for Sutter and team and you can see it in the lack of bench and scrum antics in general. That's why now when he flips his lid it feels more genuine than just selfish "Lucic being Lucic."

And that's nothing to do with your insulting suggestion that like no one here is a fan of the game as a whole, or we never watched the east, or we're only admiring Lucic now as a member of the Kings. That's borderline flaming no matter how cutely dressed up it was. Might as well call us bandwagoners while you're at it.

Because he initiated the whole thing with the slash, that's how. Not to mention Lucic took a swipe at him with his stick before he punched him. You don't spit in someone's face, turn your back on them and then say "I had no idea what was coming!". Well, if you're an idiot you do I guess.

It wasn't even from behind either. It was easily in his peripheral. I think your analogy about spitting is apt. He definitely knew Lucic was coming after him but he was not going to face him. So yeah, it might worth a game if he's done this before but I wouldn't be surprised if the league doesn't suspend him after they take into account the slash and the fact the guy wasn't hurt.

We have damn near 60% possession...yet are the 4th most penalized team with the 4th least power plays. Can't blame frustration boiling over, and I agree with his statement 100% even if he shouldn't have said it.

Ekman Larsson seems to average a goal a game a game against the kings. What ever game plan the kings are using against him isn't working. He's killing them.

9/10 they're PPG. we just can't seem to stop them there, ironically theyr'e like 29th in the league. Just one of those things.
