I literally posted at the beginning of the game that Trouba was key, and that if he played well, we would win.

I was technically both wrong and right. He played well. We lost.

People like to pretend physical play is meaningless but it could have ended the NYR season tonight.

Classic example of a young team vs a vet physical team nailing all the details and suffocating the life out of a game. Actually don’t completely hate how they responded to adversity for the most part. Effort was there but the defense was that bad. Varlamov made some big saves which it feels like he always does.

Hopefully they learn from this.

1. f*** Pageau.
2. Kakko is good defensively. So damn close to scoring a few times tonight too.
3. Panarin had a real rough night by his standards.

Hopefully Lafreniere comes into next season as a legit top6 player, and begins instilling his desire to win into this team.

We take losing too well.
The fact he’s always joking around during practice bugs me. Even if he looks like shit, even if the team as a whole looks like shit. Like in Moneyball, losing shouldn’t sound like a party with music and dancing. Losing should be a wakeup call to be better.

And, again, beating up on a team that is looking entirely to the future, and without two of their best players on the roster, isn’t exactly impressive.

Now the Rangers have to look to the future. Hopefully they get things right.

Where was Kreider tonight?Mika?Panarin?where was the response to Martin knocking out 1 of our key players? The issues this team has go well beyond just coaching
First line is so disappointing. Are they capable of playing playoff style hockey? Or only pad stats when up 4-0 or 5-0?

Well their piss poor play can still be due to coaching. Part of the coach's responsibility is to get their players prepared for games and push them to step up in key moments. Our top players looking like crap may have been partly due to the coach not getting them ready. On the other hand maybe it is more than that. But to completely dismiss that as a potential factor is short sighted.
