Was there for both of them, and will always appreciate the job done by Dean Lombardi, his entire team, and the players.

Never thought I would see it, and then was able to see the Stanley Cup skated twice on home ice. Incredible.

Concur we got to see something twice on our ice most of us never thought we would see on any ice surface. Will forever be grateful to Dean and company, Our coaching and every player on the roster. . Now it's time to move forward and do what helps the club going forward.

i think it was the announcer on sunday that kinda put things in perspective when he said "2 cups in 5 years". that still sounds awful nice.

obviously you sit there wanting more but like you said, moving forward has to be key, not resting on your laurels

2014 was one of the greatest playoff runs I've ever seen in any sport.

We'll probably be looking back fondly at these for a long, long time. Very glad and appreciative we at least have this to enjoy, considering we may not see another successful run like 2012 or 2014 for a long while.

Good thing I downloaded high-def copies of both runs. The NHL and the Kings are so behind in other sports when it comes to home video releases. I think they're available via Amazon Video and iTunes though.

I'll have to check it out. I have the documentaries, but it's not the same, especially 2014 which seemed to really breeze through the early part of the playoffs and spend all the time on the Final.

I also want to watch that 2012 Blues series again.

Which would be the most likely outcome anyway even if Lombardi made every right move the last 3 years. Colorado, Detroit, Dallas, New Jersey, even Pittsburgh, Edmonton, NY Islanders, Montreal, none of them are what they used to be. Pittsburgh went from Lemieux and Jagr to Crosby and Malkin. That won't happen for every team. Even the Oilers had to win the lottery to get McDavid. They've been awful, and weren't even bad enough the year they got him to get him outright. Chicago won the lottery to get Kane. If they don't win that lottery, history is probably quite different.

What a run. We'd be lucky to see anything remotely like that (for the Kings) again in our lifetimes. Golden Era, and every one of these guys is eternally beloved for it.

We had a 3 year span in which the team went 10-1 in playoff series.

Insanity.

The hockey world should be thanking us for preventing a Hawks dynasty. They would have been champs in 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015. Christ. Then again, they thumped us in 2013, though I'm not sure how much was left in the tank anyway.

Best game I've ever seen

Didn't like the ending but that was a great series. Probably the best series I've seen in a long time.

What jumped out at me watching the Game-7 highlights are the players no longer with the Hawks - Sharp, Saad, Shaw and Leddy. I'm sure Kings fans will have the same lament for some of the Kings players no longer with the team.

Yeah, it's nuts. I always say 5 years is an eternity in sports, but the turnover after even 2-3 years is pretty wild. And sometimes you don't realize just how good those guys (depth guys especially) are until they're gone and/or doing something positive elsewhere.

First three years under Sutter the Kings playoff record: 41 wins vs 23 losses, and as you said 10 series wins vs 1 series loss.

perspective.

Great post.

There are fans of teams out there who will not see their team win the cup for a least 30 years. Granted Kings fans waited 44 years but to get 2 this decade is pretty special

I love that Chicago had a 2 goal lead and 3 one goal leads, and we never led in that game 7. Yet we won. Epic.
