The last two days my phone's battery has been draining at an absurd rate. It should get through the day but it's not even lunchtime and it's at 45% with only moderate usage. I checked the settings to see what's been using the battery life but it says like 3% spotify, 2% chrome, and little bits of other things in the background that do not add up to 20%, much less 55%. There haven't been any system updates in the last few days that could provoke something, and no current updates available. I just turned off location and clicked the optimize battery thing (which tells me that it's optimized and status is "great") to try to save what I can and hopefully make it through the day, but I don't know.

It's a 3 year old phone so I'm not sure if it's just the end of this battery's life or there's something in the software that's screwing it up that I can fix. But it came across suddenly and not gradually. Usually by the end of the work day with moderate phone usage I'm still in the 50s or 60s percent-wise.

Can you take it to a doctor? Factory reset?

It's easy to say, but take care and I hope it gets better.

Are you going to have hip replacement surgery?

Yes I am. Right now I'm fasting, I have to lose 20 pounds before the surgeon will operate. It's going well although I haven't weighed myself. I don't have a scale for the same reason I don't have a watch- I'd be checking it all the time!

Mine started doing the same thing recently as well. It's 3 1/2 years old as well, so it might just be standard battery life. I even bought a portable charger recently, because my phone wasn't making it through a round of golf just using the scoring app. I like my phone, and really like not having a phone payment, but it's almost feeling like time to get a new one. Which is probably manufacturer intention in the first place.

Strange, what type of phone? (My phones been acting up past week)

I love the Ber months, my favourites! Now, if the humidity could get lost, that would be great.

Our hummers are still here. I have a favourite female who sits on the same branch of one of our lilacs and is very aggressive, as most are. She is still hanging out. Once she is gone, I will leave the feeder up for migrating birds. They are amazing little creatures.
My favorites too.

Sept...still some Summer
Oct...Fall...Peak leaf beauty....HOCKEY STARTS!!!
Nov...The chill in the air. Bare trees....Stark beauty
Dec...First snow....

That's right. I forgot. You're going to address it and that's what matters. I'm a total wimp about physical pain, and I can only imagine.

Not a pot person, but have thought about trying that, along with CBD? Some say this helps.

I'm sure you'll do what needs to be done regardless. Take it easy and consult with LFan.

We're having the dog days of August here, today its 91F . The humidity is so high my hips, especially the right one which is bone on bone, are really hurting despite medication (muscle relaxer plus Advil. The word is out from the FDA to scale back prescribing pain killers because so many people are hooked/becoming hooked. Lord knows I don't need that w/ family history but damn this isn't enough)

The trouble with this kind of pain (back pain too) is that it steadily grinds me down as it goes on. I have a very short fuse right now, I'm incredibly tired by the end of the day but can't sleep through the night. I'm also making stupid mistakes at work.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
I totally get this! The sooner you get that hip done the better. Hot baths (with Epson salts) help. See if you can get prescription strength Advil (800 MG). Be sure to eat something before you take it.

Good Luck!

They should be able to do the surgery anyway. They can do the posterior instead of anterior. The anterior is easier to recover from and less likely to dislocate though so waiting is probably better. Which hip is worse?

This from someone who's already been on a schooner! Take heart!

My PT person (who also sails) told me NO pulling lines or furling sails! Next year I can. Mostly they say "DO NOT FALL".

I can stand upright now. Still have arthritis in other hip, SI joints, back and thumbs but one thing at a time!

My sciatica was so bad, I probably could have used opiates, even though I hate them. But they just don't prescribe them any more. 10 years ago they would've sent me home with a 90 day supply of Oxycontin with 4 refills.

Yep. We were not hot once last week on the schooner. Doug (built the schooner) had a stroke and quadruple bypass. He is recovering. I know you sailed with him years ago. Linda (his wife) got a hip replacement in March. They were there to say hello to the folks who were sailing.

They sent me home with Oxycontin and told me to take them before the pain got too bad because once it did it would be hard to control the pain. I did not take all they gave me as I wanted to be able to drive. You don't need them for long.

But wait the full four to six hours before taking additional bupropion. As LF suggests, it can be tough on some tummies.

Good luck indeed,

You don't need to hear it from me, but be careful with that sh*t.

Samsung Galaxy A51

This is the longest I've had a phone.; I usually trade up every two years when I'm eligible for an upgrade. But Verizon has changed their whole model because they want you on payment plans, so it's not like it used to be when you could go on black friday and get the next-to-latest model for like $1.

They also keep sending me ads for a free phone with trade-in but then you go to the website and the fine print is that they don't accept my current phone as a qualifying trade-in so it'd still be $45 a month for 36 months, and I don't want to do that.

I'm probably going to change carriers by the end of the year (I'm still part of my family's plan but I should probably spin off into my own separate plan) so I might take a look at other carriers and see if anyone's offering free phones as incentive to switch.

It's definitely the right one, there is absolutely NO cartilage there at all. I do have a high threshold for pain, it's just the humidity aggravates it. Last Friday for example was warm but dry. My hips hurt but nothing like now.

Don't worry I'm sure I'll be pestering you with questions the closer I get to the surgery! :)
