They call that being realistic, I’ll be entertained however the series plays out
I just don't see us as favs and definitely not in 5. All 4 games were very Nuck'y. Time will tell but I think 2 of the 4 wins were without Demko too.

Your entire collective fanbase started talking shit after the first regular season game on every social media platform. No one is looking past the series, most people in here are just saying that a sweep in reg. season is most likely meaningless.
Glass house buddy, glass house

There we go this was the kind of banter i wanted
Jack Campbell ends this pretty quickly

I think with how Rd. 1 went and with the list of injuries, oilers are easily favourite here
You were literally just saying how superior the Canucks are based on the "82 game sample size"..

Now you're saying this, because if it doesn't go your way you will fall back to this post..

Stay consistent.

We need some old school trash talk. Where's Mizral?
Meh, trash talk is not what it used to be. All you see now is carefully crafted reverse jinx. "Oilers are favourite, no pressure on my Canucks."."Oh, no, no, Canucks won the regular season series, they won the division, Oilers barely have a chance." Shameful, really. Gen Z fans give your head a shake.

my hot take is that if the canucks other than ep and demko are healthy and rested they will win this in six. they carry all the momentum into the series and have been playing tighter defensive hockey than the oilers and against a tighter defensive system than the oilers. the canucks just need to play the same system with the same intensity they did in nashville and not let mcdrai get to them.

if the canucks get into pk issues or cannot cover mcdrai or have to change up their system to cover mcdrai then i will be wrong.

This series will come down to the performance of the 3rd and 4th lines.

Hallelujah.

I would say it will more be about how well Miller and Lindholm match McDavid because the Canucks will try to hard match that all series.

Without Quinn Hughes, the Oilers defense is far superior than the Canucks.

Even if this was true, where you take away the best defenseman in the NHL... and why would you do that?:

If you took away McDrai, this wouldn't be a close series.

So, why are we even contemplating taking away Hughes.

And that doesnt even begin to debate if the canucks d would match up to the Oilers without Hughes.

But boy, we can agree, the Canucks are not here without Hughes

What’s going on with the ‘if you took away X player this series is different’ comments?

If you took away Fox and Igor, the Rangers are not a contender
If you took away Mack and Makar, the Avs aren’t a contender
If you took away Johnston and Heiskanen, the Stars would struggle
Everyone has seen how different Vegas looks with Stone and Petro back
Take away Barkov and Bob and Florida is in trouble

You could play this game with any team left except maybe the Canes since they’re such a depth based team that maybe it’s not as crippling to lose your best player or two

Try reading the post I was replying to.
That was an obtuse and sharp response.

It all started with this: "And McDavid is a huge X factor. Top to bottom the Canucks have a better forward group, but they don’t have someone who tilts the ice like McDavid can"

He was arguing, IMO, that the Canucks have a better overall forward group than the oilers BUT, that Mcdavid changes everything by being, well, McDavid. But he didnt remove McDavid. He just expressed that he is such a difference maker that he changes everything. I agree.

You, on the other hand, didnt comment on the oilers D vs the Canucks D as a whole. You took Hughes out of the conversation completely before making an evaluation (and as to that evaluation, I haven't attempted to debate). I asked why are you taking Hughes out of the equation. He is still there. We didnt take McD out of the equation and still said, even though "top to bottom" the canucks may be better, that Mcd changes everything. You didn't do that so I asked you why- it was not logical or parallel.

But thanks for the discussion on the discussion board. :-)

Don't see why Canucks wouldn't be the huge favourites here. Ran away with the division and swept the season series.

That being said, this series does have 2022 Flames potential. Oilers are underdogs and all the pressure to win is on Canucks. Should be a good series, interesting to see which team will get better goaltending.
Hehehehe. Looking to stir some water?
