Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers
WCSF

***Mod notes***

We understand this will be an intense series filled with emotions. We ask that you refrain from personal attacks towards others members, fans, and cities.

If you feel someone is baiting or trolling you, please report it rather than reply. Thank you.

Since the coaching change Edmonton has basically been unstoppable.

32 out 32 GMs take oilers forwards over nucks.
Not denying that: but at the same time nobody is scared of anybody on the Oilers besides McDavid and Draisaitl. You really think Zach Hyman goes from being a 20 goal scorer at age 25-28 on the leafs to a 54 goal scorer at age 31 playing with McDavid because he is a late bloomer?

It's funny everyone has an antedoct. I remember 10 years ago going there for a work assignment downtown and talking to the staff. They work twice as long hours for a significantly less salary where the cost of living is higher.

Makes sense why we got so many Vancouver refugees moving to our mausoleum last few years.
I was referring to the mall as being like a mausoleum, not the city.

Finished the year 4-4-2, I would be concerned if that’s what’s considered unstoppable

Sure. But throwout the first 12 games and the last 10 games and that one bad streak they had in between plus a few other bad streaks when they weren’t really trying and they’re the top team in the league.

Draisaitl is also very “meh” away from McDavid.

Actually better than “meh”, likely similar but slightly worse than JT Miller. Perfect 2C but shouldn’t be your best center, looks good but is also prone to being lazy

I think every team is concerned about Hyman. If you only focus on mcdavid then hyman will burn you. Towards end of kings series they had to over commit to Hyman and that freed up drai and mcdavid. Too many offensive weapons when you got oiler Centre depth.

Hard to explain to a nucks fan ;)

Lmaooo are you doing satire? He's literally more dominant than mcdavid during playoffs. He's called "playoff drai"

Oh really: Double teaming McDavid every shift and leaving Hyman wide open might lead to Hyman scoring goals? You're right: this extraordinary level of analysis is too complex for Canucks fans. o_O

Love the enthusiasm but Canadian fans take hockey way too serious. Teams care more about your money than anything else. You’re just a ticket sale to them, the die hard fandom has always been an odd case to me
Hockey is just a game and a very, very small part of life, even for the most entitled fan. The way people react to something like a goal against leaves me deeply concerned about how they might deal with personal or professional setbacks in real life.

Y'all remember when we broke the Oilers, had them fire their coach and had their star players throwing literal hissyfits on the ice?

Yeah, good times.

I'm sure that isn't weighing on the minds of Oilers players though.

All trashtalking aside, I just want an exciting series.

Woodcroft trying to big brain and implement a different defensive structure paired with ice cold goalies and league worst finishing is what caused him to be fired.

I mean if you're saying Hyman is a non factor kings started out treating him like that. He scored a hattrick and was rampant earlier on. Then they had to over commit to him.

So yah if you're going to joke a 50 goal scorer something "easy cuz mcdavid" it's comical coming from a Canuck fan that needs to go back 30 years for that.

To be honest, everyone is "meh" away from McDavid. I go to work, and if I stop thinking about McDavid for a second, my productivity tanks. I want to have a...."nice" Saturday evening, if you know what I mean, I think about McDavid and things happen.

This is what happens when Zadorov tries to challenge McDavid. We welcome him trying.

My favorite goal of that series. After that oil just steam rolled them. Reminds me of an old Sather quote re Gretzky "just hit him they say... Try hitting confetti and see who end up on the ice looking foolish".

Plenty of videos online of McDavid getting rocked by hits too. He’s not an easy to guy to hit but it has happened.
He doesn't really care him and drai are absolute beasts physically. Now when hughes and petterson are subjected to the rough stuff in playoffs will be interesting.

Hell I like Vancouver and still bet on Oilers in 5

Oilers in six.

I expect this to be the spiciest series of the second round. I’d be more afraid of the Canucks with a healthy Demko but I just don’t think DeSmith and Silovs can carry the load to the promised land.

Went with Oilers in 5 games.

Canucks not having Demko is big. The step up from Nashville is too big of a difference. As great of a season the Canucks had I have a hard time seeing them beating Edmonton without their top 2 goalies.

Can the Canucks limit the shots as they did against Nashville? Just don't see it happening. If DeSmith or Demko can come back it can be a close series.

Edmonton seems primed. A nice and tidy 5 game series against the Kings. The big boys got their games in line. They're deeper than they've been in years past and Skinner has been fantastic. Their group has learned you can run out of gas and need short series to play past round 2.

I'd love to see a long series because both cities and fanbases are amazing. Canucks getting in for the first time in forever has awoken the market. Oilers fans have been bringing it for a while with this group.
