I have a feeling we will see a much stronger effort from the kings tonight.

I think the same can be said for the sharks tonight too. Torres had blown coverage on both kings goals, makes me think they may be better without him anyway.
We are not better with Richardson over Stoll.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 8m Brad Richardson skating in Stoll's spot between Penner and Lewis at Kings' morning skate... All other lines the same

Why do I get the feeling unless King gets injured, Penner won't move up?

I just don't get how Sutter can't see thta King doesn't have top 6 skill and thus, can't finish.

ON a postive note, Stoll was at team meeting today.

I think it's more about having a balanced amount of skill through three lines.

If the Kings do manage to get to round 3 or 4 this year, it will really be impressive to me given the injury adversity they've had to deal with. No Greene, Mitchell and now no Stoll is a tough hill to climb.

King is there to create space, not score. If he was on that line to score...Sutter would have demoted him long ago.

Penner and Lewis are great together. Spread the skill to all lines.

Two things I'd like to see:

1) One of the Sharks key players hit in a similar fashion. Not saying I want anyone hurt.. just hit hard.

2) Sutter should experiment with Richards and Carter as 2nd and 3rd line centers or move Lewis to center and Richardson to the 4th line. He hasn't played enough this season to be trusted on the 3rd line as center. You have Taffoli to take carter or lewis spot at rw. There are plenty of wing combos to use while matching SJ's center depth.

It is a tough hill and they seem to find a way to fight through adversity. I think most of that is Sutter and what he brings out in them and that they are such a close team, totally trust each other and fight hard for each other.

And maybe some of that is the atmostphere, this is from an interview earlier this week from Justin Williams on the Will to Win'

“Dean and his management staff have created something here that you feel good being a part of. You’re expected to win. You expect yourselves to win. Anything else is not acceptable. It’s tough to get, and we need to keep pushing towards that and not regress,” Williams said.

Stoll loss is huge...esp on the PK, he was solid there and generally ate a lot of minutes. I wonder who fills that void. Do they put Fraser with Lewis? The Kings have been pretty disciplined, now they really need to stay out of the box.

Not enough Quality wingers to break up Carter/Richards.

I disagree and bet Sutter experiments if Richardson is exploited tonight. Taffoli should be up on the top two lines with the depth depleted. He has played well enough to get a shot. I don't care if that means breaking up the top line to spread the wealth. Play Taffoli with kopi and shift Brown or Williams down.

Shuffling lines in the playoffs = sign the team is probably going to lose the series.

Juggle as little as possible until results dictate a change.

Dustin Brown – Anze Kopitar – Tyler Toffoli
Dustin Penner – Jeff Carter – Justin Williams
Dwight King* – Mike Richards – Trevor Lewis
Jordan Nolan – Colin Fraser – Richards

Or...

*

Jeff Carter – Anze Kopitar – Jeff Carter

Jeff Carter – Jeff Carter – Jeff Carter

Jeff Carter – Mike Richards – Jeff Carter

The way the team played in the third without him was definitely cause for concern.

To their credit, that was sort of a "oh crap we need to adjust on the fly now" sort of deal. I'm confident Sutter has used the past 2 days to prepare them for being Stoll-less.

I have to agree. I woke up with a case of pessimism this morning thanks to Raffi F'ing Torres. I think the boys can play an inspired game tonight and go up 2-0, but the Kings depth is really being tested this season. They were able to retool the defense over the course of the season, but losing Stoll during the playoffs is timing at its worst.

I know that you, and most likely everyone else here already knows this, but it bears repeating: What the Kings did last year (winning the Cup with virtually no injuries) is the exception, not the rule. It was nearly impossible and the probability it will occur again IS impossible. Most teams who win the Cup have to battle through these same issues. So far they're doing an admirable job. Yes, the depth is being tested, but that's why the depth is there in the first place.

I have always believed that NOTHING would ever be sweeter than them winning it all for the first time. Now I am not so sure.......

Trevor Lewis on Brad Richardson: "He’s kind of a little ***** to play against."

Penner has proven he does not do well with Carter and Richards. Him and stoll were great together, it will be interesting to see what Penner does without him.
You are right King doesn't have top 6 talent. However he creates space for Richards and Carter to do their thing.

Getting through the regular season with few injuries has caught up with the Kings big time. Mitchell, Greene, Clifford, and now Stoll. Dealing with this is giving Sutter some headaches, but I think he's highly capable of getting the most out of what he has. Also, with this latest problem regarding Stoll, I think the team will be pretty fired up to compensate for missing players.

The Kings are so deep that they can get away with it with the Sharks.

The Black Hawks are another matter altogether. We need to get some guys back, that's all there is to it.
