WCQF: Winnipeg Jets Vs. Colorado Avalanche (COL lead 3-1)

Even in today's game, when the top lines were matched Colorado dominated. Home ice advantage is going to matter, because if Colorado can get MacKinnon's line out against Scheifele's it's going to be a bloodbath.

Avs goaltending has been bad all season and especially bad in the last couple of weeks. The goaltending duel is such a huge missmatch that it's likely to decide the series . Jets have probably the best goalie in the league while Avs have a huge sieve behind them . Unless that signficantly improves for the Avs i'm taking the Jets . Top-end talent obviously goes in favor of the Avs but can it overcome the goaltending ? Not sure. Voting no here.

Georgiev let in 1 bad goal this game, the Morrissey goal. Two back door tap ins and a rebound on a shot that was deflected 2 feet in front of him isn't his fault. His defense deserve a lot more blame than he does.

Sure Avs defense has also been pretty bad this year. Unless both goaltending AND/OR defense improves Jets win.

Colorado’s defense being totally mid and 4giev as the starter. Honestly don’t think they’ll make it out of a 7 game series against the Jets who are much more balanced and complete top to bottom.

Obviously having Mackinnon probably at least gives you a chance at a game 6 or 7. But Jets win this series imo.

This series reminds me of the bubble Stars Avs series.

Bowness hockey, Avs goaltending stunk, and the Stars got offensive contributions from all over the lineup. Avs lost in stupid ways, but the Stars had trouble closing the series out. Came down to game 7 OT.

Could have the makings of a similar series.

249 goals against for the Avs is the most among the playoff teams right now with nashville right behind at 244. its quite clear, that Avs main weakness maybe its goaltending, and their smallish defence group. Mack and Rantanen can make the difference, but goaltending for the jets

it seems like Avs is banking it all on Mackinnon and Rantanen. A lot of their defence stats are inflated because of their 140-point player on their team, similar to the Oilers with players inflated stats because of generational Mcdavid. Of course the Avs can also say if they can shut down Scheifele Connor etc etc.

But never under estimate Mack though.

Stars goaltending was much worse than the Jets current one is. Khudobin had his worst series of the playoffs and in one game Stars coaching staff thought it was a good idea bring hobbled Ben Bishop off the shelve which was the last time he played an NHL game .

Avs and Dallas are very good teams. As a jets fan I’m nervous bout jets chance to move out of first re till they do it.

Hellabuck will be the difference maker if the Jets win. He needs to stand on his head and steal at least 2 games.

I don’t think the Jets have the pieces though to shut MacKinnon and Makar down.

Assuming nothing changes defensively for the avalanche, jets in 5. They bleed goals. Georgiev sucks but it’s a team problem and they’ve been out scoring it all year, which they will not do against the jets.

Pretty much this. The Avs are gonna have trouble out scoring their problems against the Jets. If things keep up with the defense and goaltending it will probably be Jets in 6, if the Avs can get their D playing better and get serviceable goaltending it will be close.
