A place.
So three of our most important players are out for game one, two of which are out who knows how long. Our bottom 6 is a bunch of nobodies, and were playing the stars, a team that has had our number for years.

I don't know if this is a ****** setup for the playoffs or the start of a really great underdog hockey movie.

The one piece of hope I have is that it is a totally new situation. No Parise, Vanek or Haula (at least game 1).

That might give everyone a fresh start and new vision.

I would be happy happy happy to lose game 1 4-2 (eng) and look bad, and come back in game 2 with Haula and win 3-2 with Dubbie stealing the game.

Or maybe the new guys have a lil' fight in them. Playoff miracles have happened before. You know, show the world what you've got, given the opportunity.

Unlikely, but hey, at least that lineup should be able to grind. It's something.

I believe in this team. It may be foolish, but it's better than going all doom and gloom before the playoffs have even started.
I like the positivity

The deck is stacked against us a bit, but they can absolutely win this series. It will be tough, no doubt, but this isn't the Beliveau Habs we're playing here.

We need Haula! Parise and Vanek have already been absent for long stretches when trying to play through their injuries.

Just got to find a way to get out of Dallas 1-1 and then go from there.
Porter-Dalpe-Jones is a pretty ugly third line.

I only count 2. We're on gifted time anyways.

2 guys who cleared waivers this year and a guy acquired for a 6th round pick + salary offset. And yet they all would have a solid case to be in our top-12 if we were 100% healthy based on their play.

Too much negativity in here. We can win this game and this series. I 100% believe both will happen.

A couple of stats people that have certain models. Have this series being closer than most people think.

Dallas goaltenders DONT play behind the Wild defense and Kemps / Dubs dont play behind Dallas' D.. so your point is irrelevant .

Well it is relevant if people are arguing that the Wild goalies are better based on save % alone. I say, they are roughly equal. Niemi/Lehtonen's save % is lower but that is largely due to the fact that they play behind a weaker defense and probably face more high scoring/dangerous shots on a regular basis.

Not to mention the fact that we could be facing a rookie backup and make him look good.

In reality, it's just impossible to predict how this team will show up. This team could very easily get swept or take down Dallas in 6 (if healthy). Nothing in between would really surprise me at this point.

This situation right here is why I wish players would just sit out when they get injured initially and get their **** sorted. Parise was almost a non-factor for much of the season, likely due to his injury. Now, when he's needed most, he's going to be out as it's been re-aggravated.

I really hope the kids step up, because we're gonna get trounced if no one fills those holes.

With the regulars out it might serve us better(I am up for the optimism award) there is almost nothing worse than a group of guys with nothing to lose. Just hope Torch goes No Quarter. He is coaching for a job as much as the players are playing for one. Losing 2-1, 3-2, 4-2EN, 2-0 will not keep your job even if you didn't let the score get out of hand.

Remember last year when we were actually healthy scratching pretty good players. Last your all of those guys would be 5th liners and not playing. This year they are our 3rd line.:(

I put Wild in 7. I want us to win this series so very badly. I know how good and how terrible we can look at times. Just hoping that we can turn to the good just in time for the playoffs. I don't see us winning this series unless it is a long one. Make it happen Wild!

@SteveBurtch Just for the record - this year DAL vs MIN. MIN scored 12 goals vs 8 for DAL at 5v5. 5v5 HD SCF were 51-43 for MIN. Reason number 5 why I don't think it's going be as lopsided as people think.

Back Surgery is an Option for Wild's Parise

The news could soon be worse. According to multiple sources, Parise was at the Mayo Clinic seeing a spine specialist Monday. Now being determined is whether Parise needs season-ending microdiscectomy surgery to relieve pressure on the spinal nerve column.

Parise is first trying physical therapy to see if that improves the situation. Still, the Wild’s all-time leading playoff scorer, with 25 points in 28 games, could very well miss the postseason.

Just get the freaking surgery or else we'll have to deal with it next season.

What sucks is that back injuries never really go away. This could be the start of a lot of problems.

Why can't we ever have nice things?

If this is the same upper body injury that's been haunting him all 2nd half... he should have sat out LONG AGO. This is why you can't afford to be playing guys injured for long stretches like that.
