Don'y buy Kopitar being healthy one bit, I've never seen him perform so poorly. I also think Richards has been playing through something for awhile, but he always seems to be...

If Kopitar and Richards are healthy the Kings have serious issues going forward, especially when it comes to Kopitar, he looks like Ryan Smyth out there.

I fully expect a 5-4 game in one of the next two.
Every once in a while a score fest happens between these teams

If Kopitar is not hurt, he deserves all the hard talk. Even though he says he's fine, I'm operating under the presumption that he isn't. It's well know that he's one of the hardest working players on the team, practice and game wise, so I just don't buy this whole "i'm not hurt" thing. Too big of a slump he's in to just notch it down to disinterest. Nor is he a players that just "doesn't care".

Kopitar, on the first PP unit forever and 0 PP goals in 79 games?!? Face Wash, I know you for years on here, but still had to check for myself...as a Kingfan since 1973, that is thee most brutal stat I have ever seen in my life! Yes, in 40 years.
When you consider the 1st PP unit says, "we enter the zone and look for Kopi and
get him the puck" and he has no PP goals in 79 games? If you had told me he had 0 PP goals in the last 25 games, I wouldn't have believed it.

This is for sure not true because he scored one or two PP goals in last Stanley Cup run...

But for sure this number is not good. Although I have feeling his role this year was to set up other guys in PP and that's why he is having so much assist.

All this talk about Kopitar....why isn't Richards doing anything? All i've seen is Williams taking control of this team...atleast brown is also throwing his weight around.

Because if you talk about Richards the horde will attack, even when he's been sucky.

Because it's plain as night and day to see Kopitar's ability to take this team by the balls after last years cup run. He was a beast.

He's hitting his mid season slump and Backes is calling him his *****.

That's why.

Kopitar attracts forwards and defenders to him like flies to ****. Why do you think he had so many damn assists all season?

Yep, he gets swarmed any time he gets the puck. That said though, it's not like this is his second year in the league and he needs to figure out how to play through teams actually focusing on him, he's been doing it for years now and does need to step it up.

I do find some of this discussion of his slump funny though. Every single year we have discussions about his mid-season goal scoring slump on here and yet here we are at game 51 of this season and it's some of kind of shock that he's not scoring goals at the moment. It's pretty much the same thing we talk about every year too, we all want him to drive the net and look to shoot more. Granted, he doesn't look the same as he normally does with posession of the puck and dominating down low physically, unable to be knocked off the puck either. He doesn't seem to try to simply hold onto the puck and keep everyone off of it with his strength while trying to find someone to pass to as much as usual. I would buy that he's hurt, especially a knee, based on the way he's playing. That's not really new either though, it's been going on all year. Remember at the begining of the season when he was getting knocked down along the boards all the time because his strength obviously simply wasn't there? He's played differently than normal most of the year.

Who is not calling out Richards? This whole thread is filled with blame for Richards and Kopitar. I'll say it again, Richards has been on the ice for all three goals by the Kings and none of the goals by the Blues. The only goal Saturday night was scored because Richards got the puck to the net and he and Clifford drove the net and fought for the puck. He also had a number of really good chances that night, as much as anyone on the team. He's not been spectacular but he's not been awful either like people around here seem to imply.

Because if you talk about Richards the horde will attack, even when he's been sucky.

I don't know what horde is defending Richards unless a horde is like 2 or 3 people. You want to talk about a horde how about all the people who refuse to criticize Jeff Carter? Carter is my third favorite player but he hasn't been playing well. A -2 with no points on the first or second line. I know it's cool to hate on Richie and Kopi, but it would be nice if our top goal scorer would do something. Or are we blaming his mishaps on our two centers as well?

I would be inclined to say that Kopi is injured, but we've seen him take the body more this series than he has all year. He's had some pretty good checks. I think tonight he finally rises to the occasion.

I'm hoping for a similar effect on Kopi.

Actually my math was wrong, it wasn't 79 games, it was actually 80 games after game 3 and now it's 81 including 24 Playoff games in which Anze Kopitar has failed to score on the PP. Which means if he doesn't score on the PP Wednesday he'll have gone the equivilent of a regular season without a PPG. Incidentally going into this season he averaged 9 PPG per 82 games.

if you watch him skate with or with out the puck he looks a full step slower and appears to not be able to push off, has to be hiding an injury he is only 25 years old and could not have lost a step like this naturally......

last night the PBP was commenting on this. they went as far to say it looked like he was skating in mud.

i agree. i won't be surprised after they are done and they say he had off season knee surgery
