Lazy as hell. not a confident player.

Also, If you notice. Brown doesn't hit big any more? Wonder why? He's getting older. It takes a toll on him. He made a smart choice. He's playing more of a finesse game, scoring goals and shooting. He adjusted his game to last longer. Age and style mean a lot. Brown is smart. He changed his style before it was too late.

The direct quote from Brown about that to Fox was.

Brown " I used to take lots of runs at people, but that would put me out of position" " I need to stop doing that".

And Brown was on pace for about the same amount of hits this year as last year.

Brown might have missed it by about 30 hits.

Jonathan Toews owned Kopitar? Really

Jonathan Toews was on the ice for 6 even strength goals against the Kings this season, you want to take a guess who the other center was for all 6 of those goals? Give you a hint, it wasn't Kopitar.

Richards No one said he was good this year 5 on 5.

He stunk it up, Just like Kopitar. But Richards has all this problems with him.

Small, old, Lots of games...What's Kopitar's excuse ?

If Richards is driving you insane, Kopitar mus have you ready to kill someone.

He didn't throw many hits last year either. Not many big ones as he used to.

Out of position or not, that may be one reason. Who knows. But that possibly extended his career. Why do you think that many hitter and gritty players dont last that long, especially the small ones.

Last year Brown was top Five in hits for like the 5th straight year.

Brown was actually Number 2 last year.

He has me going insane. No doubt about it. The reason im more urgent with Richards is because of age and value.

Kopitar has benefit of doubt. Richards i think hes too old to take the risk and have his value drop. Its simple as that.

Again Brown was a big hitter, he doesn't throw big hits anymore. Normal hits register. There is no stat that says Big hits/normal hits. Brown used to truck people every game.

Compare these hits to his hitting of this year and last year.

I think Kopitar is multiple levels above Richards in almost all facets of the game, he is more proven with the Kings and he wasn't horrible all year. His play the last 20 games or so has been hideous, I won't sugar coat it or even better blame it on someone else (like the Richards fan from Philly does).

I said earlier in this thread that game 1 was the worst game I have ever seen Kopitar play for the Kings.

I think Kopitar was worse game two, Backes pretty much took him out of the game.

Game one is the Blues fourth line....

David Backes....That is like Stoll taking away Toews from the Hawks.

Kopitar was about 34% from the dot....in both games.

Richards was at least 50%. both games.

If I am correct Richards has also not been on the ice for a goal against yet.

But the way he and Kopitar are playing it wont matter.

All that talk about "just getting in.." The Kings have been well below avg on the road this year, and find themselves in a hole early. Should have fought harder to keep things at Staples.

He'd also throw himself out of position and get burned on the scoreboard.

The more I think about it the more I think we're overreacting.

This has literally been a two bounce series, the same two things that made the Blues win could have happened for the Kings. I don't know if there's a single player out there who could produce points in the first two games, there's definitely nobody doing it on the other team. Game 3 is the chance for the Kings to put their stamp on it, to break the Blues tight checking and show them that hey, we can get home and we can do to you guys what you are familiar with. In tight games like these, anyone could win 4 in a row, swap wins, hold on home ice only (obviously that would mean a Blues series win) or lose four in a row. Once the second and third period of these games comes, there's no telling who will win it. That's why it isn't over. It isn't like any team has a distinct advantage 5 on 5, or on the power play, etc. Every night is a war and Saturday will be no different.

Until then I have nothing to say.

That Brown trip on Perron.. People are saying it should be fined? He leaned his forearm out, and caught a piece of his shoulder while extending his leg out to make better contact. It was just a poorly timed him, but people are saying theres an elbowing/kneeing attempt? Thats so bizarre.

He was out of position trying to make a big hit and stuck his leg and elbow out. It was a really dumb play. That's how someone gets really hurt - that could have just as easily been a knee-on-knee hit that could have blown out either Perron's or Brown's knee. So stupid. The problem is, they were both totally fine. The league needs to start suspending players for recklessness or intent to injure. If it were up to me, this play would receive at least a fine, possibly even a suspension, for being so dumb and reckless. Of course, the NHL suspends players based on the injury imposed to the other player, so this will never happen. But that's just my $0.02.

That's from the back. If you look carefully you see his forearm lunging out to his shoulder making small contact and his knee was out because he lunged out with this arm and tried to check him at the last second. He clipped perrons skates. And be his elbow wasn't "out" his forearm was tucked and then sprang out making it look like he swung his elbow. Bad angle. No dirty hit attempt if you actually look closely.

Trading Mike Richards.....I take it people hit the booze pretty heavily after last nights game, huh?

The Kings will win their home games, I'm convinced of it. They just need to steal one of the two remaining road games.

Two disappointing losses, but series is not over. However, I'm feeling better than I thought...we have our ring, and I won't be on suicide watch if the Blues will eventually kick us out. Muzzin and Ellerby are probably hurting the team chemistry more on breakout passes than on the defensive side of the puck, but let's not forget we scored 2 goals in 2 games, so our D is not the main reason we are down 2-0. Aside from Williams, Brown and Penner, our forwards are sucking donkey balls, in particular Kopitar, who's a ghost out there. I expect the Kings to win game3 in convincing fashion and kick the Blues ass but to win the series we need our top guns to be much better. We are not the same team from last year: Regehr is good defensively, but no way he's Willie Mitchell. Willie is a better skater and has a bit of an offensive upside Regehr hasn't, as he's more or less a more physical Scuderi.

Last season Greene-Martinez were a perfect 3rd pairing, while Ellerby-Muzzin are 2 rookies, and we all know they would have been exposed in the playoff. Remember when we played against the Canucks? Who were their weakest links? Tanev, Ballard, Alberts...our D was just better. At the moment, the Blues D is way better than ours, but on paper we have the edge in the forwards dpt and goaltending...on paper. The Kings have to find a way of get out of this hole...and if eventually they won't be able to make it, well, we still have our ring, we'll turn the page and we'll look forward to the next season.

From a blues fan.....I agree with the post earlier that the Blues have gotten 2 more breaks than the Kings. Both of those breaks were goals for us. I can promise that this Blues fan is happy to be up 2-0, but I am far from thinking we are in control. I expected this series to go 7, and I still do. I am just hoping Anze doesn't wake up.

Didn't watch the game, checked in on this thread last night, and thought it was a little crazy.

Wake up the next morning, people want to trade Mike Richards. Ok then.

so many whiners around here and giving up. please go away. at minimum keep your negative bs to yourselves.

down 0-2 for simple reasons
*lack of 5 on 5 scoring
*we can easily point the finger at the top 6
*the bottom 6 also need to force more pressure and pop a goal also at times
*lack of presence by all lines to the slot and front of the net. to many guys playing the perimeter, because that is what STL is giving them.
*Kopitar needs to be better. i know he is blanketed, but he needs to be better it's that simple.
*Richards needs to produce. Kopi is receiving the tighter coverage/checking. Richards is having more time to operate. he has to pick up the slack, this is why having two top C is key

Quick is not to blame for last nights loss. once again he had a very good game. i will bet anything he was screened on the shot by DD. Jackman's release point was behind and through DD's legs. JQ never saw the puck until it was right by him.

Quick also can't be blamed for the loss when the team only scores 1 goal a game. the guy will steal a game here and there when the team scores once, but he can't be blamed and wins can't be counted on with only 1 goal

back home to LA.

It amazes me, the team has scored 2 goals in 2 games, one of them on a 5 on 3 and people are blaming the two rookie d-man.

I'm not saying Ellerby is good, I think he has been below average, but has he even been on the ice for a goal against in this series?

Sadly yes. The first one in Game 2 :(

He was good tonight. Not good for Ellerby but actually good. The only thing bad that happened as a result of something he did was a clearance that went off someone's stick and was rushed back up the ice. That's hardly his fault and I don't know why anyone would be blaming that kid. I feel kinda bad for him to be honest, he played a good game and got crapped on for it. Not saying MN14 did but Ellerby does get that treatment a lot.

Finally people who can actually realize that, while he hasnt been as good as we would like, hes been ok hes still learning and it was (basically) his second playoff game (not counting last years with FLA b/c he got hurt in the 2nd period). And i honestly have felt bad for him even when he was with Rochester in the AHL he was one of the best defenseman and he got bashed for it he gets awful treatment and honestly some of these people need a reality check, he and muzzin havent been the reason we are down 2-0, obviously theyve contributed to it but if our f**king forwards could score we would be in a better position then we are.

Stoll stayed because we won the cup. If the Kings lose in the first or second round last year do you think Stoll is brought back?

Yeah, I do. Lombardi has been quoted talkig about culture, talking about new kids coming in and seeing the work ethic of guys like Richards and Stoll (specifically by name). He said you can't just keep rotating those kind of guys out or you lose the culture. I think it was the same video where someone asking him about buying out Richards and he looked like he just saw a flying donkey.
