If Muzzin and Ellerby have to stay in the line up, then just don't pair them together.
Doughty/ Muzzin
Voynov/ scuds
Ellerby/ reggie

I like the spreading out idea, since the Blues don't have a line to really focus Doughty on shutting down. Have to play Martinez over Ellerby on that 3rd line though so they can move the puck out, but otherwise i like the idea

Sadly and I know it's too soon to say this but I really think we need to cut Greene and Mitchell from our team in the off season. We really need to press hard for two d men in the offseason. Greene looks like his body isn't keeping up anymore. It's too soon to say but it's risky not to consider trading him. Idk.

How many teams would line up for an injured Greene? He's not going anywhere. Mitchell is obviously a different story at this point, and until further notice, should be assumed to be done.

No he's been solid but a major back surgery and now an undisclosed injury. Who really knows if this isn't the same thing? What If it's a career ending injury? It seems pretty big.

He's been skating with the team. Whatever this new injury is, it's not career ending. Sutter is saying that Greene is just not up to speed yet and that's part of the problem. It's difficult to come off a major injury and right into a physical Playoff series with having only played a few NHL games this year.

Okay, if his injury is as big at seems as this point. Buy out both next season. He's probably skating to try his best. But it seems big.

We need at least one veteran defenseman.

Honestly atleast we've seen Martinez perform at a high level and these kids especially Ellerby hasn't even showed that, he's been stagnant. Martinez right now couldn't be any worse, but at least he has promise cause we have seen him last year.

That's true. I don't know. The Kings have done it without Greene and Mitchell and really Martinez all season. We'll see how they do tomorrow. Hopefully the loss gets them going.

We really do, I'm just guessing it's big from what it looks like, coming back and going out so soon. I don't know. But If dean knows it's big, which I hope it's not, I think he has two vets to buy out. I hope not but I'm guessing.

They can't buy out injured players.

Greene had an injury that kept him out for a few months. He came back, probably not completely ready. Thanks to the Kings need for defensemen though, he gets pushed up a bit.

This season may just be a wash for Greene. There's been no indication, unlike Mitchell, that it's anything that will spill over into next season.

That went at the expense of Doughty though during the season. I just hope Amart is in instead of Ellerby.

How is it "big" if he's traveling and skating with the team???

This is what I was begging for last night. If we HAVE to play them both, they must be split up

I really hope we'll see the usual lines. Brownie last night was like wtf are we doing on ice, you can see his slack attitude especially when he broke his stick and "rushed" to the bench afterwards.

I remeber that play as well. I was thinking to myself, if Brown had skated any slower to the bench, the game might have ended by the time he got there.

If Greene and A Mart are not coming on for the next game. I would rather have Muzzin with Regehr and Ellerby with Doughty. This way we will have an offensive Dman on each pairing. Muzzin has a cannon and by pairing him with Regehr he can roam freely and plays his offensive game. For Ellerby, by paring with Doughty, he can play a stay at home game and just focus on D.
We gonna need to go from high to low then get those big shots from the point through to get the Blues scrambling out of positions. Of course our forwards will need to get back and support our D all 60 minutes especially when Ellerby is on ice.

I still don't see any logic behind playing two playoff rookies together on the same pairing.

Although I don't necessarily agree with it, I'm thinking it's the idea of making two very strong d-pairs as opposed to three average pairs....and then playing the weakest pair as minimally as possible.

Not to sound brash or over confident, but to borrow a page from Messier's book, I'm going to guarantee victory.

Considering how the game ended, I think the Kings will come out fired up. The Kings know what to expect from the Blues. Quick is back on top of his game (ok maybe not his puck handling, but he was phenomenal last night), and as the game progressed, the Kings were spending more and more time with the puck inside the offensive zone.

Just need to get more shots through onto Elliott and get shots around the Blues shot blockers. Get the series tied 1-1 and take both games at home.

Our 4th line sucked and Sutter agreed per LA Kings insider. Cracknell-Porter-Reaves played like Nolan-Fraser-Clifford did last year. Is it time for Andreoff?

Man this day between games sucks...That game was intense and I can't wait to see these two do it again tomorrow (hopefully with different results).
Quick was amazing (last play aside obviously)!

Nice Jonx job haha.
If we can stay out of the box, and win some facoffs I like our odds for sure.

No. It is never a good idea to have a player play his first NHL game ever in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They'll just have to be better, like they have been before.

Not sure how Sutter can single out the 4th line. Penner was pretty much the only forward who i thought wasn't a trainwreck

Regehr's breakout passes were absolutely atrocious last night. You can't pair him up with Muzzin or Ellerby. It just won't work, unless you want to spend even more time in our defensive zone. In that case, I might as well switch my game 4 seats to the side where we defend twice because I'll at least see some action there...

Muzzin - Doughty
Regehr - Voynov
Scuderi - Ellerby

Replace Ellerby for Amart and it'd be tons better. When amart played with them rookies he did bad. With a vet he did great
