it's pretty typical of teams with size. Bigger and more physical players get hit with more penalties all the time.

Sutter can only control so much. This is one of few cards he can play. May as well play it

I don't like it one bit. I agree about what he's TRYING to do, but he's never given this team an excuse/out before, so starting now is ugly.

Remember Williams talking about 'lucky bounces' and **** like that? "Luck is for losers."

Sutter has always been about worrying about what we can control. In the past, he would simply say 'stay out of the box' or 'be better on the pk' not 'need more calls.'

Since it's an elimination game I have to bring out the sacred burrito.

It's very not like Sutter. I refuse to believe that this isn't part of some mental game he's playing with the DeBoer. Like maybe he's trying to get the Sharks thinking about trying to draw penalties instead of playing the game.

Or making htem thinkk we're unfocused or something while also playing mind games with the young refs

shrug

DS complaining about the two missed calls. On Brown and on Carter. The truth is the PP probably wouldn't have scored anyway, and the time was well used to start rifling instant shots from the point. The Kings need to continue that high low shoot go to the net game and see where it takes them.

Or maybe Sutter just wants the refs to be aware of the bull calls and is trying to create a level playing field. He is basically saying, if you are going to call then call all of them, if not, let the boys play. I don't think he is just whining about the losses.

I think its time Jim fox brought out his lucky jacket again.

Edit: thought it would be easy to find it online, i can't pull it up for the life of me. He even wrapped it around the cup, it was my profile pic for a little bit. Anyone have it? Anyone know what im even talking about...

oh and... maybe I missed it but no torta? don't we want to win?

Hoping for a win, but what I really want is a complete effort, from the drop of the puck to the final buzzer. Just give us some evidence you actually give a ****. Is that too much to ask?

I posted this on April 2. Is this playing itself out in this series?

The entire system is about sheltering slower defenders so you can laugh as teams get ground into dust over a 7 game series going up against Mitchell/Regehr/Greene. It has worked over the past few years.

McBain: Still here, handy in a pinch, but doesn't have a lot of upside. Solid Schultz style fill in.

Ehrhoff: Got hit once then was afraid of going into the corner for a month, doesn't work with Kings hockey.

Forbort: Has not show why he should be in the NHL over anyone else. Maybe he gets a shot next year if he's kept as the 7th D and not traded.

Gravel: Didn't look bad, but this year, there are better options. Being able to play the right side may help him stick. It's handy to have guys like Martinez/Lewis that can be plugged in where you need them.

The more the game changes the more a throw back team like the Kings becomes dangerous.

I don't doubt a thing you said!!! It's like is it DS and DL the geniuses again? Or, has the league rules changes finally made its way all the way to the playoffs. In other words, for at least prior to last year, and for about 4 straight years before that, I always got a sense that the NHL adopted all these new ticky tacky rules, but then never applied them in the playoffs, which certainly benefited a team like the Kings because their style was crawling all over people, an occasional hold, hook, slash, trip, etc. that was never called in the heat of the playoffs, but might have been in the regular season. We hear the phrase, Built for the Playoffs!!! But what does this mean?? Don't worry, I get it, but is this the year where the style doesn't work in the playoffs?? I don't know! It's hard to question DS, but the Kings style is unique in this era where practically every rule change would seem to want to diminish this style, and so many other teams have gone to excessive speed. When I watch the Kings in the playoffs this year, the first question in my mind is are they slow??? The system protects "slow", as long as every plays sound position!! I can't wait to watch it all unfold!! I agree with those that post it don't matter now. It's meaningless!!

There is a difference between slow and bad. Scuderi is both slow and bad. McBain is quick and bad. The penalties we are seeing aren't from playing too physical. They are from bad players caught out of position. These penalties will get called.

Then you have the stupid penalties for forwards. You can't punch people in the face after the whistle or throw them in a head lock (Toffoli)

All this claiming that the game has sped up and the Kings have to speed up to match it is complete BS. Scuderi on the top pair is bad, because he's a bad defensman.

The Kings are getting beat because they're running one of Scuderi/Schenn/McBain on every pair. Schenn's played well but shouldn't be logging 20 mins. Has nothing to do with anything else. Kings going out in the first round is confirmation that the defense is not good enough, not that you are right.

As confident as the sharks are with their new coach and goalie you know they have to be in staples right now looking at those banners with a little smidge of doubt in their heads...

Step in the pedal early and I think we can pull it out. F the doom and gloom in here.
