Kings coach Darryl Sutter spent a second straight day complaining about the officiating in Game 4. No specifics, but he wasn't happy.

He's not wrong. Kings deserved at least one call there in the 3rd. I'm more upset about the entire series and how the officiating has robbed us of the stuff that makes playoff hockey fun: chirping, hate, scrums etc.

Gamesmanship. I expect the refs to either swallow their whistles tonight or to give the Kings the edge in power plays.

Stay out of the box and stop Pavelski. You do that and that's a good recipe for success. Win this game and the pressure is on them. If any team can come from being down 3-1 in a series, its this team.

And Burns, how has nobody nailed Burns? It doesn't make sense to me

We are currently on a hair trigger as far as rage goes so hopefully Shore isn't drawing back in.

Come to think of it, he may be the perfect player for how this series is being called since he's never hit someone in his NHL career.

Yeah I've just been using the same lineup for a while, so it's not accurate. Anyone know what the lines were last game? I'll update it once I know.

Doesn't look like we'll get a personnel update until game time, sounds like they opted for video and off-ice today

It's been a fun run having "laker haters" out there vs. the Kings and Blackhawks. Both teams have been so successful that most are just rooting for their failure instead of FOR another team. That has to be a miserable way to enjoy a sport  Would love to drag this out as long as possible!

He should have done it in the regular season. It's hilarious that people think we are the bad guys, so they really don't give us the calls.

it's pretty typical of teams with size. Bigger and more physical players get hit with more penalties all the time.

Sutter can only control so much. This is one of few cards he can play. May as well play it

This was the best I could do looking at highlights, probably not right. Kopitar and Carter were interchanged sometimes.

Lucic - Kopitar - Toffoli
King - Carter - Brown
Pearson - Lecavalier - Gaborik
Clifford - Lewis - Versteeg

I posted this on April 2. Is this playing itself out in this series?

The entire system is about sheltering slower defenders so you can laugh as teams get ground into dust over a 7 game series going up against Mitchell/Regehr/Greene. It has worked over the past few years.

McBain: Still here, handy in a pinch, but doesn't have a lot of upside. Solid Schultz style fill in.

Ehrhoff: Got hit once then was afraid of going into the corner for a month, doesn't work with Kings hockey.

Forbort: Has not show why he should be in the NHL over anyone else. Maybe he gets a shot next year if he's kept as the 7th D and not traded.

Gravel: Didn't look bad, but this year, there are better options. Being able to play the right side may help him stick. It's handy to have guys like Martinez/Lewis that can be plugged in where you need them.

The more the game changes the more a throw back team like the Kings becomes dangerous.

I don't doubt a thing you said!!! It's like is it DS and DL the geniuses again? Or, has the league rules changes finally made its way all the way to the playoffs. In other words, for at least prior to last year, and for about 4 straight years before that, I always got a sense that the NHL adopted all these new ticky tacky rules, but then never applied them in the playoffs, which certainly benefited a team like the Kings because their style was crawling all over people, an occasional hold, hook, slash, trip, etc. that was never called in the heat of the playoffs, but might have been in the regular season. We hear the phrase, Built for the Playoffs!!! But what does this mean?? Don't worry, I get it, but is this the year where the style doesn't work in the playoffs?? I don't know! It's hard to question DS, but the Kings style is unique in this era where practically every rule change would seem to want to diminish this style, and so many other teams have gone to excessive speed. When I watch the Kings in the playoffs this year, the first question in my mind is are they slow??? The system protects "slow", as long as every plays sound position!! I can't wait to watch it all unfold!! I agree with those that post it don't matter now. It's meaningless!!

I'm not expecting a win. Haven't been able to seal the deal on must win games this year, and SJ has a tonne of motivation against us...

4-1 sharks.....will be a real stinker for us. Under 20 shots..

I'm ready either way. So many guys have been underwhelming in this series, individually and collectively, that if they finish the season 0-5 at home against the Sharks, at this point it's not surprising. If they turn it around and win, after everything they've done in the playoffs recently, at this point it's not surprising.

In the 4 games in LA this season, in which the Kings are 0-4, and have been outscored 16-8:

Pavelski, 6-4-10
Burns, 4-4-8
Thornton, 2-4-6
Donskoi, 1-2-3
Hertl, 2-0-2
Couture, 1-1-2

Pearson, 0-4-4
Toffoli, 2-0-2
Lewis, 2-0-2
Carter, 1-1-2
Muzzin, 1-1-2
Lucic, 0-2-2
Brown, 0-2-2
Lecavalier, 1-0-1
Shore, 1-0-1
Kopitar, 0-1-1
Doughty, 0-1-1

Here is how this game is going to play out: Kings will start off hungry and aggressive with the forecheck and get many shots on goal the first 5-10 minutes; then the Sharks will get a fluky goal off an odd man rush or a point shot on the power play; the Kings attack will deflate and the game will be mediocre afterwards.

Man, I wish we had signed Sekera over the summer instead of trading for Lucic. Our blueline would be sort of decent.

I expect the Kings to be in the box no less than 5 times tonight. I expect the Sharks to give up 2 PPs.
