Yes, worked out well for Toffoli and for Pearson

They're not D-men. Little different. But I generally agree.

If you're only going to play McBain 5 min anyway, I don't see Gravel as a downgrade, and it's not like McBain had playoff experience anyway (not before this). Assuming he's not hurt, mind you.

I'm not in the play Gravel for McBain camp. Maybe for Schenn and Scuderi?? Both got through the last game, with Schenn hitting everything in sight. But I'm not thinking all of their issues are solved. If anything SJ is sitting around discussing how to exploit their weaknesses more. SJ seems to have two games in a row now played rather conservatively, and perhaps because they got the lead. But if they don't aggressively over pursue the puck against the Kings slow D, then the Kings will stand a chance in this series. You dont want to play systems chess with the Kings. You want to invoke the track meet. Imo.

You would rather put Gravel in for guys who played over 24 & 23 minutes in game three than a guy who played <6M?:shakehead

The 5 min thing is what's key for me. Gravel's upside is greater than McBain's but McBain is the safer commodity. If we're only gambling with 5 minutes of sheltered time (over 1 Min of McBain's TOI was on the PP) I think it is worth putting Gravel in.

He sure looked good in what time he has spent up IMO

Edit: From hockey futures
Talent Analysis

Gravel has very good skating for his size, including a good first step. His defensive positioning is exceptional and has become a real staple and defining factor to his game. He should have more points than he does given his puck skills and shot.

Future

Gravel is skating for re-located Kings' AHL affiliate Ontario in 2015-16 — appearing in four games with Los Angeles in February during his first NHL call-up — and is one of the Reign's top defensemen. In the first year of a two-year entry-level contract signed in June 2015, he is making headway at cracking what has been a strong blueline corps in Los Angeles. Gravel uses his size to advantage and can generate offense off the transition. He projects as a solid middle pairing defenseman.

Game 4 keys:

1. Do NOT give up a goal on the first shot, or even in the first 2 minutes. Ice the puck if you have to - think DEFENSE first.

2. Do not give up a goal in the final minute of any period (see #1 above)

3. Score more goals than the Sharks.

(DS: feel free to use this)

I feel like number 3 is the only key..Do not care how it is reached just as long as it happens.

We don't know why he only got 5 minutes.
Did he tweak something and didn't quite feel right but knew if forced he could play some?
Or was he benched?
Because he played over 16 minutes in the previous game. So there is no guarantee of sheltered minutes really.

considering McNabb also had < 10 min 5 on 5 play I think Sutter shortened the bench. That's all there is to it.
If it were injury to either McBain or McNabb than the other would have played more. Instead I think their McAsses were stapled to the bench.

Can a coach challenge a play to call back a goal on an off side committed by their own team?

can you layout what kind of scenario you are describing? Why would a coach call back their own teams goal?

If it's team B that score how can team A be offside at all?

In other words no.

McNabb still got some shifts late in the game and OT, but McBain's last shift was at 42:40 with Muzzin. What's that, 17:20-16:45 in the third? 8 shifts in the game, lengthy absence after his 4th. Probably overanalyzing but yeah he got shut down early.

My guess is that it's being said that you go offside and the puck is cleared goes down and you are then scored on.

Which has been brought up many times on talk radio.
